Am planning my next trip and now can't decide where to stay. Wilderness Lodge is my favorite resort, but I have not been to the French Quarter since the remodel and have never stayed at the Swan or Dolphin before. Where would you stay and why? I've heard that they chage an extra daily fee at the S&D for use of the gym. Can this be waved if you won't use it? What is the current discounted rate there and is it usually throughout the year?

I'm not sure about this but I'm bumping in hopes that someone can help you out. :)

go look at the recent s&D posts - they not only charge the $7 extra fee - but now they charge for parking - $10 - so and an extra $17 to add daily to your bill.

don't know the current rate - but this site generally has a cheaper one.

are you entitled to one of their discounts?

Skip POFQ - it's just really boring!!!!!!!! There is nothing going on there. When we were there it was like a ghostotwn. (Of course that didn't stop us from waiting for the boat for 1/2 hour every time...........)

If you like the atmosphere of the AKL lobby and having things to do at the resort, then I would stick with a deluxe. Also, the Swan and Dolphin would be good choices if you like to walk around the Boardwalk. There is just so much more atmoshpere at those resorts than at POFQ or POR.

I would also try the Swan or Dolphin. We stayed at the Dolphin last year, and loved being able to walk to the Boardwalk, and EPCOT and very easy boat ride to MGM. I hate busses! We had a great view of the Boardwalk, Illuminations, and the YC/BC from our room in the far east wing, though a long walk from the elevators.

I vote Swan/Dolphin for location and heavenly beds. The resort fee is $10, but we've never had a car so don't have to worry about the parking fee. I've heard they don't waive the resort fee anymore, but it's for other things besides the gym. The discount seems to be around $160, so it's still considerably cheaper than the neighboring Disney resorts.
