We are going to do it ... buy into DVC that is!

Here's my problem, we're not sure which property is right for us. I know we have to buy resale due to our state of residence. Anyway, we have narrowed it down to BVW, OKW, and VWL. In your much-valued opinions, which do you think would be better for a family of four with an 8 and 10 year old? We would be using a 2 bdrm. during off-season and love swimming pools!

Hope this doesn't start a "battle of the resorts"!

you love swimming pool - so why isn't BCV on your list - the pool there is one of the best in the area?

you can't pool hop there.

Now if you just like swimming pools (no slide or fancy stuff) then OKW has 4.

After BCV I think VWL has the best slide - not offense BWV - I just like the slide better at WL than BW.

OKW is surpose to be getting a slide - but what it will look like and when it will be opened is anyone guess.

My kids were the same age as yours when we bought last year. We chose BWV for the following reasons:

- Before we know it, the kids will be teenagers. So, walking distance to Epcot and MGM made sense for their sake.
- We could afford points for a Std 2br at BWV in July...but no more. A BWV-P, VWL or BCV 2br would be too expensive.
- BWV have grand villas. We may never use one (budget), but it's good to know we can get one at 11 months.
- Proximity to YC & BC

Originally, I wanted OKW because of the unit sizes and low point requirements. If it weren't for BWV's great location, we would be OKW owners now instead of BWV.

Good luck with your decision.

If you like Disney, then you should consider where you will want to be over a longer period of time. My experience with pools and kids is that their wants / needs change quickly.

Where will you want to be when they are teenagers and either they or you don't want to always have to be all in one group together? Where will you want to be when they are in H.S. or college? How about when they are out of the nest - where will you and your spouse want to stay?

Personally, we like BWV for the convenience, great activity, and easy walk to Epcot and MGM. You have your choice of boat transportation, walking, bus, or driving your own car. Wandering the boardwalk in the evening is great.

The fact that you can book at your home at 11 months, but for other resorts, you have to wait until 7 months might factor into your plans. That's one reason why, although we love OKW best, we're not in any hurry to own there. From our experiences, we've never had any trouble with the 7 month window. Although I gotta admit, I kind of long for the day I could say "I own at OKW". But I don't, and owning at another, harder to get into resort, I suppose does have its advantages. With that in mind, you might want to give BWV and VWL a thought. If you want to go near the holidays, nothing beats BWV's nearness to Epcot (for the CP) or MGM (for the Osborne Lights).
BTW, I'd love to hear others' opinions on the future of booking OKW at 7 months.

If OKW gets a slide - I think more members will want to stay there - I happen to love it - I also own at BWV and VWL - but for my longer stays - or the times when I am short on points - I really love OKW.

You have to realize that OKW is much bigger (more villas - as well as the size of villa) - the bigger something is the easy it will be to get.

But lately I have been surprise how hard the off season is getting to be - May in particular - amazing - I hope September will be easier....

I would go with BCV in your situation - close to Epcot, walk to MGM if you want to, great pool, quiet pool as well

thanks

If your thinking 2 bedroom most of the time , then BWV, if only for the standard room pts.

As your children get older they will most likely want to go to MGM and Epcot, MK sometimes.

Good luck choosing

If the pool is a big thing for your family, I would seriously consider BCV, they have the best pool on property.
From the resorts you listed, I would suggest BWV because of the additional booking advantages this resort offers that no other WDW DVC resort does. BWV has a tiered point system with standard view villas which require less points and BWV also offers a guaranteed boardwalk view. BWV is a resort that tends to book up very quickly especially for standard view or boardwalk view villas so having the home resort advantage here is a big plus.

Thank you everyone! It looks like BWV may be the way to go. If I am understanding correctly, BWV is harder to book into during the 7mo. timeframe vs. some of the others, so it might be advantageous to have as a home resort.

For those of you that inquired, the reason we didn't have BCV on the list is because the person I was interested in purchasing a resale from did not have any points for sale at that location.

Kudos to all of you for being so helpful in the pursuit of DVC knowledge!!!

If you think BCV would be the best resort for your family ( and I tend to think it would) I'd look at other resale sellers to see if they have any or wait until the broker you're on the books of gets one come up. I would also take another look at SSR, from the mock up/Artist drawings I've seen their plans for their pool looks like it will be an impressive facility. Pool hopping does mean you have a large selection of other pools at WDW to use but IMHO The Y+B clubs pool is the best of all of them so it may be worth a little patience and a little extra cash to secure the premium facility
