Hi all,

we have stayed at the Beach Club and the Yacht Club (twice) and are looking at possibly staying onsite agin this summer. We are looking for a new experience, but like our luxuries when we are on holiday.

We have always liked the location of YC/BC but are trying to be more conservative with spending this time.

Any suggestions of alternative places to stay (moderate resorts) would be great. Holidays are so individual, but I would prefer to have a personal view point.

TIA

We enjoyed the POR although loved the beach club, we are having the same dilemma, would love to stay at the beach club again but we would love to save some cash. If we have to downgrade it will be POR

For a moderate we love CSR. It is a truly lovely resort and as it is a convention hotel benefits from the buses and pools being quiet during the day :thumbsup2

The rooms are nicely finished and the toiletries are the same as at a deluxe resort unlike the other mods.

We stayed 5 times before becoming DVC members and loved every stay :thumbsup2

None of the mods have balconies so if you want a balcony you would need to look at a deluxe or DVC. The cheapest of these would be AKL and WL for the deluxe and OKW/ SSR for DVC.

I would definitely recommend that you look into renting points to stay at a DVC resort. It would most likely work out the same as paying for a moderate resort and you benefit fromt eh deluxe accommodations and facilities.

We have stayed at POR, POFQ and CSR in the mods. I would choose either POFQ or CSR. This year we are returning to CSR as we did really enjoy it there (but we do always rent a car) and have booked the business class rooms, which might be an alternative? The pool area is the attraction for my DD and the lake is nice to walk round.

Otherwise you could try WL which is a little cheaper than YC but a beautiful resort :)

We have stayed at POR and PORFQ and we prefer PORFQ for its smaller size. It's nice and quiet as well with a nice bar and you can use the facilities at POR as well.
We also like spending time at DTD and love taking the boat down there in the evening.
We liked OKW as well it's theme and layout are really nice plus they also have the boat to DTD.

Thanks everyone.

How long is the boat ride to DTD?

We quite fancy a DTD area resort but really were looking for something with a short walk there. I don't think there is one though looking at the map! lol

Saratoga Springs is the shortest walk to DTD I believe (I haven't been so someone correct me if I am wrong!). I think there's a specific walkway from the SSR area.

We stayed at SSR and loved it the rooms are so large and they have a washing machine and a dryer which came in useful. We loved the location and my boys loved getting the boat to DTD. The pool was nice and they loved the slide. Only down side was the quick service was not great but just ok.

Ignore me,

I have found it now. I was getting my wires crossed with CSR

I liked Port Orleans French Quarter when I stayed there - it's not as sprawling as Riverside and it's closer to DTD for the boat journey. But have you considered staying at Wilderness Lodge? I haven't stayed there myself but I've heard good things about it and it's cheaper than the other deluxes.

Have you thought of staying off site say in a Condo or in a Villa

with a private pool ?

We stayed in SSR last october. There is indeed a dedicated walkway around the lake into the marketplace area of DTD. We stayed the Springs area of SSR and the walk to DTD was about 15 minutes.

There is a bridge across now as well so the walk should be even shorter :)

Thanks everyone.

My DH has now decided to go for the even cheaper option and a car..... we have officially booked! And we will be staying at the Sheraton Vistana Village in a 2 bed villa.

It was a toss up between space in the room and location.

We went for space in the end. Our kids are DS (15) and DD (14) when we go, so separate beds and lots of space will be lovely.

Friends of ours have stayed there and the reviews are good.

We stayed in a 2br some time ago and really liked the Sheraton condo. Is there still a jaccuzi bath in the master?
