Which resort would you choose - family of 4 - 2 adults and boy/girl 8 year olds

Port Orleans Riverside

Port Orleans Royal Room (+$20 POR)

AOA Family suite (+$70 from POR)

Going in October. AOA is new and I would love to see the new resort. Nice to have two baths, but it is a short stay for us. I am concerned once AOA is fully opened, the food court and other amenities will be crowded, especially with non-guests from POP and other resorts coming over to look. There are 2000 rooms and about 900 are Little Mermaid (opening Sept 15th). POR has just be redone and has more amenities, but we have stayed here before (and really liked it - our fav amongst the mods). PLEASE help me decide!! Thanks!

if you had 2 girls would go for Royal room - but with one of each - just go with POR - or if you want a choice - go with POFQ. It is next door to POR and it is enough different that if feels like a different resort.

it does not sound like you want AoA - won't worry about AoA beginning overhelmed with other WDW guests. most wdw guests use DME and Aoa is pretty out of the way. the one exception might be guests who are going to WWoS - it is pretty close to AoA.

I'd probably just go with POR and request an AB room for the Murphy bed so your kiddos can sleep separate. Otherwise I'd go with AoA so mom and dad get their own room, kids each get a sleeping spot, and you get an extra bathroom. Plus it's new and the kids would probably love it

I find the Values overcrowded, less comfy and too loud.

Also, no pool slide (which my 8 year old LOVES) is a deal breaker... Not to mention no hot tub for Mommy..

Amenities in MOD are better than a value and the Royal rooms look really nice and have a great theme.pixiedust:

With two 8 yr. old kids I would do AofA in a theme that would "wow" them both. It want be long until they want be as impressed IMO.

I would definately pick the royal room. Just there is June and the rooms are beautiful and very regal looking, not girly at all other than a few pictures on the wall with the princesses but there are outlines of all the famous prince's too. I wouldn't feel bad at all about having a boy stay there. Like I said, very regal feeling, did not feel like it was girly. JMO though. We've only ever stayed at deluxe resorts (Poly, AKL, and WL) until this trip with my whole family. We stayed here and other than the rooms being a bit of a walk, I absolutely LOVED this resort. It is gorgeous.....never did see the other rooms but my brother and family had one and they liked it. I would not deal with the crowds at AofA for anything! Crowds are the number one way to make or break a vacation for us. It stresses us out and just plain old makes me grumpy dealing with rude people, people budging, etc. I get enough of that at the parks, don't want to deal with it at the resort too! Anyway, good luck.....

My vote would be AoA bc it looks like a great resort. POR also looks nice so i dont think u could go wrong either way. If i had to choose i would pick AoA. :)

I'd stay at the cheaper nice one and use the extra $ you save to do something extra! POR is nice. I'd wait until the hype of AoA dies down myself. Just my two cents! :)

Thanks everyone!

We booked an AOA Lion King family suite. It was VERY tough decision! My kids are 8, so I think they would love the bold, colorful Disney theming. The AOA is brand new - it won't ever be new again. We have stayed at POR before (and really liked it). Since we are only staying one night before we move to our Marriott vacation club, I think this may be a good time to try AOA! We can try the food court, swim in the pool (kids are dying to try the underwater Nemo soundtrack), take some great Disney themed photos, and experience some onsite Disney magic. I am not sure I would want to stay at AOA for an entire week (prefer real beds and less crowds). Next trip perhaps we will try POR royal rooms. They do look lovely!

Thanks, again!
