Hope this post is ok here!!

I am trying to decided what resort I want as my DVC home. I have only stayed at OKW. I don't want to spend more $ to check them all out without it being toward MY own DVC points.

I know everyone loves THEIR home resort for different reasons. Do you mind sharing those to help me decide.

I love the BWV for the following reasons:

I just love the atsmosphere and the theming.

The location to Epcot and MGM.

The boardwalk area- with all the hustle and bustle. In the morning I would sit on my balcony and watch the runners and the walkers. And at night I would watch people just strolling along with the lights reflecting off the water. It just has a very alive feel to it.

Being able to see illumination from the resort at night.

Being able to book different views to save points. BWV's have a standard view and a preferred view with a guaranteed Boardwalk view. However, you can save 6 points a night for a 1bdrm by going standard so its more economical if you are trying to get the most for your points. ( Now I don't know if I will like the standard view as my 1st stay I had the boardwalk view. )

SSR=12 more years plus they have good promotions going on and like i said in other posts you have 47 years to stay at them all. Plus i like the fact when kids are gone of being close to dtd a little more adult i think just my opinion

As a BWV owner I like it for location, location, location. We've stayed at BVC and except for the pool DW and I weren't that impressed. We've stayed at SSR, we don't know if it was the outside hallways or what but didn't like it. We do like OKW for a nice laid back time, plus you can't beat the room sizes, makes you feel like you are at home.

Another vote for BWV because of nice themeing, excellent location to parks, and access to many restaurants on the boardwalk and at EPCOT.

Here's someone who doesn't care for BWV at ALL. I prefer OKW, SSR, and VWL. OKW is my far ahead favorite because it truly feels like a vacation home instead of a hotel. SSR is next for it's upscale feel, and VWL after that. Not because I don't like it, but because it's a bit too much like home, and not Florida enough for me.

Depends on what you are looking for in a Disney Vacation. My wife & I are just thrilled that we can afford to be DVC members, and stay in deluxe accomodations. I plan to try all the resorts - From those I have stayed at here are my observations

Park Access : BWV or BC - both are walking distance to Epcot or MGM
Theme : Wilderness Lodge

SSR is a beautiful and relaxing resort. More than enough dining options as long as you dont mind going over to Downtown Disney. It really is not a bad walk to get there in my opinion. Plus SSR gives you the extra years

And if cost effectivness is you goal, OKW has the largest accommodations for the fewest points and is usually one of the lowest maintenance fees as well.

You have 47 years to stay at the "DVC II" resorts (SSR plus whatever resorts are built after it). The "DVC I" resorts (BCV, BWV, OKW, SSR, VWL, VB and HHI) end on Jan 31, 2042. It's not clear what happens to those resorts after that date, but since there will be no owners left to pay the bills to run and maintain them, it's unlikely they will be available to DVC II owners to book with DVC points after that date at the same point rates we have today. (It's possible they could be booked on points at the Disney Resorts rates, perhaps.)

We bought SSR for the extra 12 years....but I must say we absolutely love it. It would be unfair for me to say it's better than any other resort, because we've never stayed at any other resort, but after touring BWV and BCV, we were very happy with our purchase at SSR. Obviously, it depends what you like most, theme, resort feel vs. community feel, proximity to parks, DTD, etc.

We own BWV. What we like about our home resort:

Walking distance to Epcot
Great pool slide (some people read too much Stephan King and don't like it).
Standard View and Boardwalk View rooms
Hotel style.

If I were you, I'd make a list of attributes of resorts. Some of them - like decor - will be VERY subjective. Weight them all (that will also be subjective - i.e. location is VERY important to us where the twelve extra years on SSR is worth nothing to us (too old, no intention of leaving it to children)). Then rate the resorts.

There probably won't be a resort that is perfect - all of them have their charms - but you'll be able to figure out what appeals TO YOU.

For us, SSR because...
We love the room decor.
The pool there is our kids' favorite.
Proximity to Downtown Disney. We also  the DTD views from Congress Park!
The spa is beautiful and serene.
We like the ability to park right outside the door.
The extra 12 years are important to us. We plan to keep going, and taking children, grandchildren and maybe great-grandchildren (if we're lucky) with us until the very end!

Now, having said all that, the truth is we often end up booking at OKW because the villas there are so much larger, and in the end that's a really important consideration with our large family. Then we drive to pool hop at SSR or shop/eat/play at DTD. When our kids are grown up, though, and larege rooms aren't so much of a factor to us, I imagine we will stay at SSR more often.

I have stayed at all the resorts at disney plus HH and VB. I like all of them. Buy SSR, with family and friends while it last. You get the extra years and can book any resort. I bought in to SSR in 04 and have not found any problems with the 7 month booking at other resorts. If you wish e-mail me and i will give you my name for a referral to get the SSR 150 points for $86.00 / point.

Just love it at the BWV, boradwalk views are among the best in Disney.
