I'm interested to know which WDW resorts people have used points for and whether it was worth it..........considering Poly on points for a few nights and would love to hear other's opinions on their experiences!

AKL twice and yes it was worth it. The dollar equivalent of the points needed (using my point costs) just beat the AP code rate each time.

GF is the one resort at WDW that I have never stayed at. I don't know why but it's just something we have not gotten around to yet! LOL! All the other WDW resorts we love and have stayed at many times and will continue to do so. However I have never used DVC pts for a non DVC resort. I am always able to get a better rate with a AP or FL resident discount than what the pts are worth, so we always pay cash. We have been able to get some amazing cash discounts of WDW rooms over the years. I know some say one of the things they like about DVC is they do not have to search for the room deals, I am just the opposite. Although I love using my pts at DVC resorts and do this for the bulk of each trip, we also really like to stay at non DVC resorts on a regular basis for a few days. I love researching and getting a great deal on a WDW resort! For me planning the trip is part of the fun!

I will use my points to stay at Animal Kingdom. I've seen the resort and many people have given good reports from there.

I used points for AKL, but dollar for dollar, it wasn't a good value. I used 160 points, and they were points that had to be used or lost, so I used them, but if I had had the time I could have rented them at $10 per point, for $1600, and paid cash for each night, AP rate $145 per night. I could have stayed 10 nights on cash, rather than the 4 or 5 nights on points, so from that stand point it was not a good value. AKL is a great resort, though, and if I had to spend the points, it was the best place on-property to use it.

It does not make sense to use our points to stay at Disney resort in WDW. We can get a larger room and stay longer in a DVC resort.::MickeyMo

I've never used points to stay at one of the "regular" resorts. I have no plans to do such a thing. :snooty:

None, just DVC resorts. I don't think it's cost effective to use points at regular WDW resorts. I would rather pay cash on a great discount and sell points to cover the cost.

We used points to get a Savannah view room at AKL last December for one night...

We called CRO and got the going rate for the room, and then figured out the price per point, and it ended up being $10...

We felt comfortable with that, and decided to book...

The view was awesome, and my DS3 couldn't believe that there were giraffe's hanging out outside our bedroom window....

We have used points for AKL and considering using points for the Contemporary and FW Cabins as well

Your poll only allowed us one choice though so we voted AKL

thanks

Wow! AKL is a popular choice! I undertstand that pound for pound it is not good value.....but when I book with points it doesn't feel like real money...and I've already spent so much on points that I couldn't justify to my husband why we needed to pay more money to stay at a different resort! ha! ha !

I'd love to stay at the Poly and Ed would like to try the GF.......so maybe we'll have a splurge! For anyone who has ever booked a room on points, did you get a view upgrade?!

I will eventually book 2 nites at AKL, concierge, just to take the early morning KS. Some day if they allow swimming again in Seven Seas Lagoon we may try Poly.

Haven't used WDW resorts for points, but put friends in GC at Disneyland. They raved about how wonderful it was. Nest time, it will be my turn!:earsgirl:
