Which resort would you choose

I need to know what resort I should pick it is out of Poly, Contemporary, or Port Orleans Riverside. I need to know which would you choose if it were you going.

If money is no object, I would choose Poly. It is beautifully themed, on the monorail, has a great pool and slide, and wonderful restaurants. I also like PO-R very much and we've stayed there many, many times. For the price, it just can't be beat.

I've never stayed at Contemporary and it doesn't appeal to me. DD wants to stay in a tower room but those are way too expensive for me!

You selected three very nice places. Enjoy

You have two deluxe and one moderate, plus the deluxe are monorail hotels so that is kinda oranges and an apple. I love POR and would always go back. Of the other two, I would choose Poly. I just think it has a great theme to it, with the volcano pool and just a warm tropical atmosphere. CR is just concrete to me. Being that they are both on the monorail, I can't think of anything CR has over Poly...........just my opinion.

I would choose the Poly. Contemporary doesn't really have any themeing and POR doesn't have the monorail. Our family just stayed at the Poly for the 1st time and fell madly in love. The location is unbeatable between walking to the TTC or hopping on the monorail. The themeing is beautiful-lush green vegitation, hawaiian music, volcano pool. This is our first choice for Disney resorts!!

It depends what you're looking for. We're staying at POR, because it has features we want, for a price we can afford. If I were willing to pay more, we'd give the Poly a try, but maybe next time!

Personally, I would choose the Contemporary. I have always wanted to stay there. I have stayed at Port Orleans before it had two sections and liked it very much. But if money is not an object, go with a deluxe. I think it would help to choose what is best for you by knowing a little more about your situation. Who are you vacationing with? What kind of atmosphere do you like? Why have you narrowed it down to these three resorts?

Poly and CR are both located near MK and are both on the monorail line.

Pluses and Minuses of Polynesian
+ beautifully, exotically themed
+ rooms are large
+ some of WDW's best shopping
+ memorable and romantic
+ convenient fo MK
+ adjacent to Epcot monorail
+ recreational options
+ child-care facility onsite
+ new pool
+ Electrical Water Pagaent
- no hot tub
- beaches and pools remain busy throughout the day with many families w/small children staying here
- onsite dining is a weakness
- noise from nearby speedway
- no fitness centre

Pluses and Minuses of Contemporary
+ a work of modern art and interesting architecture
+ great views from rooms
+ good onsite dining
+ arguably the best lounge at WDW
+ onsite child-care facility
+ health and fitness centre
+ Electrical Water Pagaent
+ fun and exciting place to stay
+ exceptionally convienent to MK (monorail & 10 min walk)
+ lakeside water recreation is as good as it gets (Sammy Duvall's Watersports)
- theme and decor can seem sterile

Pluses and Minuses of Port Orleans Riverside
+ charming (enchanting after dark)
+ most romantic of moderates
+ delightful boat service to DD (especially around sunset)
+ great swimming areas
+ good food courts
+ convienent self-parking
+ children's play areas
- rooms in need of refurbishing
- lack of shopping
- insufficient onsite dining
- no accessible off-site dining
- large, confusing layout
- many guest rooms are very far from dining and services

Just to add that I would also stay at the Poly if money is not a factor. :flower:

Wanted to give two thumbs up for Ali too for making those lists for the OP. They are great. :cheer2:

Thanks. :) But to be fair, I just went through my guide books and compiled the list. I have actually pretty limited firsthand knowledge of the resorts otherwise.

If money no object and since I have stayed at the Contemp a couple of times many, many years ago and ALWAYS wanted to stay at Poly, my answer POLY!
:)

We stayed at the Cont. but it just wasn't our favorite. I will agree with the lounge being FABULOUS though! I would choose the Poly. Beautiful themeing and great restaurants. This hotel always gives me a relaxed feeling when I'm inside it.

What are your criteria??

You have three very different hotels (not to mention 2 Deluxe and 1 monderate). Out of the three my personal favorite would be POR. I love the theming and the proximity to DownTown Disney. If I was paying for a Deluxe, I'd much rather GF or BWI than Poly (it just does not appeal to me). CR was a favorite as a kid, but the room pics now give me a headache (a little too bright and busy).

But you have to decide what is more important to you. Location (close to what?), theme, price (for what you want out of it).

Contemporary looks exciting, but the rooms look like the whole place was frozen in 1977 and never thawed out.

:goodvibes I like that about it!! Makes you feel like you are staying in Tomorrowland.

Out of the two deluxes, I would chose the Poly hands down over the Contemporary. Even though we've stayed in the tower rooms at the CR, it's just not my favorite place to stay, it's too much like every other hotel. The Poly is gorgeous. I have to admit, except for one night years ago, I've never stayed at anything other than a deluxe because we're a family of 5 and we're very fortunate to be able to. But if I wanted to save money, moderates would be the way to go.

Go with the Poly! I stayed at the CR and I disliked it's pools and the theming of the rooms. Don't get me wrong, the CR is a nice resort and if I stayed there again it would have to be a Tower room overlooking MK. For great theming and a warm resort feel you can't beat the Poly. If you have the money I recomend the Poly, hands down! :cool1:

I will stress something that I've read about Poly in most guide books - there are lots of children compared to other deluxes. This may be fine for you because I don't know your circumstances but Fodor's Walt Disney World for Couples said that a lot of couples go to the Poly for the "romance" and are disappointed for this reason.

Poly :Pinkbounc
if you call and try to book the room only you sometimes get a deal same with POR
I have stayed at all 3
the contemporary has something addicting about it but it does not compare to the Poly.
lay on a hammock at the Poly one afternoon and your questions will be answered.
the contemporary is rarely discounted but it is cheaper to start and you can stay in the garden.
but POR has a great bakery...................
ya know it is sometimes hard to find a good piece of cake in Disney...... :rotfl:
and they have the same ice cream you get at MK :mickeybar (I know the rest of the parks have it but it is not the same except at POR)
But the Kona Coffee and Desert at the Kona cafe at the Poly..........did I mention the coffee and Tonga toast (it is not that great  but I am a bacon person)

My vote is for Poly, we have never stayed there, but we always take an evening to visit and have dinner.

I've stayed at all of them and I'd have to say POR is my favorite. But I am not traveling with kids. If I was traveling with kids, I'd pick the CR, no doubt to be so close to the monorail.

Poly was nice too. I liked it, I liked being able to walk to the TTC. & it had a better pool that the others. But from the CR you can walk to the MK (at least you could when I stayed there). I liked the shops and arcade at CR better, I like the restaurants at CR better. And it's very neat to have to the monorail run right through your building.

POR is my favorite of the three (actually my favorite resort I've stayed at so far) because I like how big it is and I like the theming and the pool. It also seemed quieter to me. But mostly, I just think the grounds are beautiful.
