We are staying 9 nights at Disney's AKL but after recently getting great airfare ($69pp vs $220) two days later than our original vacation dates we are now in Orlando some extra time and we want a value/moderately priced hotel for those two extra nights. All Disney deals are gone for that time and since we are universal annual pass holders we booked cabana bay figuring we would spend those extra days at universal. I am second guessing myself now as we have only stayed at universals deluxe and I'm not sure if we will like cabana bay.
I'm trying to keep costs down as we originally budgeted for a 9 night trip not 11 and I don't want to exceed our air fare savings on these two extra nights.
FYI there is currently no availability for a standard room at the universal moderate for our dates.

Thanks for your help.

I'd stay at Vistana, but only for the space (2BR). Cabana Bay would be much more convenient for doing Universal for the extra 2 days if you don't mind the tight quarters.

AKL is heavenly, but after that long stay if you are like me it is so wonderful to get out of a hotel and into a lovely condo at a great resort. A nice living room dining room area, kitchen, and laundry in your unit will be great. At the Sheraton Vistana too you will have a patio or balcony with a great view (usually a water view because of all their great landscaping -- little lakes). Our kids have always loved the Vistana pools and hot tubs and they are open until midnight -- later than many resorts, allowing for an evening swim after a park day. We are a tennis playing family and the Vistana has a whole bunch of clay tennis courts -- eight I think.

I've done split stays starting at Disney or starting at Universal and then moved to an offsite condo. It was always a great move for me, as after a good number of night in a hotel, a condo is a breath of fresh air.

Cabana Bay is a fun resort for 2 nights. We have always stayed in the family suites and had enough room for a family of 5. I wouldn't want to stay in any hotel for longer than a couple of nights, especially with so many roomy options available in Orlando. We recently stayed in a 1BR at Saratoga Springs, which was good, but I miss the 2 bedroom.
