one of my best friends and i (both 19 yrs old) are planning to go to WDW in august for 5 days. We have to stay at a value resort for budget reasons and there is no way to compromise that unfortunately. This is my friends first trip to WDW and i want it to be the best but i dont know which resort to choose. I have been thinking about the movies b/c we both love disney movies but the only one ive stayed at is the sports. which one would be the best for two 19 yr old girls?

I think it is a draw... any of the value resorts are going to be similar and semi=equal... the only difference is theming.

The Music was just renovated and is very nice! They have activities near the pool. They play movies and do Karaoke and games in pool for kids. I fid the landscape more lush at Music. That said, I stayed at the Movies and loved that. We were in Mighty Ducks building number #2 and closer to the Music Resort. We often used their food court and buses as they picked up and dropped off first!

Both are great!

I say go for POP as the food court is much better and there is only one bus stop. The layout is very well done. If you want the all stars then I wwould choose the Movies I like it. I stayed in the Fantasia section.

Honestly, August will be here before you know it-- I say you try to make reservations now and see what's open. If you're planning on late August, there's free dining, but you may have limited availability.

Do either of your parents have AAA? Could they get you the discount?

Also, the mom in me demands I add: think about requesting a room fairly close to all the action. Your parents will sleep better at night if they know you're not too secluded.

Have fun planning!!

I've stayed at all the Values, and Movies has always been my favorite. It is definitely the most Disney of all the Values. I also think it has the best food court. Just depends what theming appeals to you mostly.

First of all, please don't feel that you're compromising by choosing a value resort. They are fun, upbeat, and comfortable and each of you will still have your own bed right in the heart of the magic. If it were me, I'd choose either ASMU or POP- we love Movies but the rooms there have not undergone the renovation and thus the interiors/furnishings aren't quite as nice as ASMU where there are now pillowtop beds and much more upscale decor. Pop is great fun too and has a food court with a few more expanded selections if that's more of a priority. You really can't go wrong. A "first visit" is always the most fun to remember so I hope you two have a great vacation!---Kathy

POP is the best value, IMO. Better buses & better food court.

I agree that you shouldn't feel like you are settling for a value resort. Being 19 means you will probably have no time in your resort anyway esspecially for a first timer. You will be running around all day and probably into the evening. I would suggest the possibility of a preferred room. You are closer to the main pool, food court and as someone else mentioned closer to the action. Enjoy your trip!!!

I've stayed dvc, deluxe, moderate, and value. Obviously each level up has additional perks but I had a great time at each level. My focus was on the four parks so if I enjoyed the resort, that was just an added bonus. At the value level, I've stayed at POP several times. I really loved everything about it. Of course, being a few decades past 19, I enjoyed seeing all the icons (the big Mickey phone, the big wheel, the rubik's cubes, etc). I also loved the availability in the food court. It can be busy (mostly with squeals of laughter) but that's have the fun.

I would stay at POP and thoroughly enjoy my visit.
