Stayed at Contemp. in May...loved the easy transportation to the parks...had a great AP rate. Just got the email...now the decision on where to stay. We are gonna just visit MK and may MGM and take a few afternoons and enjoy the pool. Is Ak too far away from AK...I could stay at Cypress Point Grand Villas for less. Will the buses drive me nuts with waiting. I have a 5 and 8 year old that love the slides . WHat do you suggest. pirate:

We stayed at WL in July and absoultely loved it!!! It is only a very short/convenient boat ride from the Contemporary and the monarail system. It also has a boat direct to MK.

If you plan on staying mainly in the MK area then in my opinion the AKL is quite a ways to ride a bus every day. However, there are others that enjoyed the long bus ride as a way to wind down.

I think that it would be okay if you planned on staying mainly on the AK end, but I think a resort closer to MK would be more convenient in this case.

Hello,

I would say of the three, the pool at WL is the nicest, although the other two are not too far behind.

For ease of access to MK, obviously the boat ride from WL is the best, but the bus from AK might not be as bad since it doesn't share with another resort, although distance wise it's the longest. The PO-FQ bus shares with PO-R, and can add an extra 5-10 minutes or so due to the multiple stops, and can also be a bit more crowded at peak times due to the vastness of the two resorts. I have never really experienced bad bus crowds on an AK bus, other than right at closing time.

For access to MGM, both AK & PO busses are much easier than WL, which usually shares it's stop with another deluxe resort, usually Polynesian, but sometimes the Contemporary or GF.

I love the grounds at PO-FQ, and the river ride to DTD, and the fact that it is often less than half the price of AK & WL. The rooms at the two deluxe resort are slightly bigger, but not as big as those at the Polynesian or Contemporary.

Hope that was of some help,

Take care,

Bill

First if you can stay at WL or AKL, I would.

The bus from AK is a breeze. I don't think it could have been more than 10-15 minutes. Probably about the same as riding the boat from WL. Don't make your decision on transportation to MK, only MGM.

I think the major difference you have in the two is the size factor. The styles are very similar.

The WL lodge is much smaller and intimate, has a nice pool area and nice slide. We found it very relaxing and peaceful. I totally enjoyed our visit there and hope to go back.

The AKL pool is very big, has zero entry, organized pool games, and a nice slide. It stays very busy. The pool is also treated differently or something because it has a "murkier look to it". Playground is right there. There are also lots of activities going on at the hotel the kids might like in addition to animal viewing. Night vision goggles, crafts, stories around the fire, etc.

ps If they love slides, why not stay moderate and use the savings to go to Blizzard Beach one day ???? Coronado is close to Blizzard and has a great slide of it's own !
