Which resort with mobility issues

Just started thinking about a very short trip with two 8 yos and me (the mother) and grandma. Grandma has trouble walking long distances, but wants to see wdw with the grandkids. She has two bad hips and a bad knee. My family has gone without grandma and stayed at the Cabins at FW (twice). We have a long weekend in early June and I am considering taking the kids and meeting grandma in orlando (no dh.)

May or may not have a car, but could rent one if grandma doesn't drive down from GA.

If we go, we'd do MK and EP only. It would be 2 or 3 nights max. I would love to do either Contemporary or Poly or BC/YC (or Swan/Dolphin) but then I thought those might not make sense with someone who can't walk a lot. Is there something that would be a better idea? I know at the Cabins we could park right in front of our Cabin...

WWYD?

TIA!

I have been 3x with a senior with mobility issues. I think ANY WDW resort will be just fine, but I would definitely pay for the preferred room location (if applicable.)

The BIGGEST hint I can give you is to rent an ECV from an off site vendor, if she does not already have one!!! Do not underestimate the distances she would have to walk and the time spent standing. An off site rental will allow you to have it with you all of the time and the walk from event a preferred room to a bus stop can be exhausting for someone with issues. I've used both Walker Mobility and Apple Scooter with excellent results.

I think a monorail resort would be ideal for your current touring plan.

The previous poster brought up some great ideas to consider. You should look into a scooter rental for the trip. If the person with the mobility restriction feels comfortable using one, the parks and transportation systems are all very accommodating to those who use scooters.

As for hotels, I would also recommend a resort on the monorail loop, if it is within budget. It will make it very easy to get to MK, and to Epcot. Even if you plan to have a car, the accessible parking lots at the parks still require a walk to get to the entrances (and to get from the parking lot of MK to the entrance, you have to take the monorail or ferry anyway). If the MK will be your primary park, you may as well stay on the monorail loop to make things easy for travel.

We have traveled to wdw with my grandparents many many times over the last 30 years. We're going back in June with my grandmother for her 100th birthday! What we have found is that she wants to avoid the buses. The monorail works well for her but she always has a wheelchair and has for a few years. she can't walk more then just around the hotel room. there is so much walking in the parks I'd suggest getting a wheelchair or ecv from an off site vendor like a pp stated. They will deliver it to your resort and pick it up there too.

If its in your budget I'd probably suggest the main building at the GF or the CR in the tower.

Personally I'd do the POFQ and request a building closest to the bus and the ground floor. It is a small resort and nothing is further than a 4 min walk.

I agree with every single thing pp stated. I'd also suggest a tower room at CR, or a main building room at GF as you can stay in the ECV (I think) for all monorail transportation. And from the GF, or CR, you can use monorail for MK and Epcot.
