DH and I are taking our 6 and almost 13 year old nieces in January for 4 nights/5 days for their Xmas gift (from grandma too!). I was thinking of staying at the Poly because of the monorail to Epcot and MK, Ohana breakfast for the Lilo lover (6 year old) Cinderella's Castle breakfast (great transportation) and the theme is cute.

Another option is the Beach Club for the Cape May breakfast but that could be a hassle with the buffet and I thought the 6 year old would have more fun at Ohana. But the location is closer to Epcot and HS.

DH and I have stayed at both and like both alot. Dont think we will do much swimming, probably spend alot of time in the parks...it might be too cold in Jan anyways.

Which would you do and why? Any positive or negative feedback is appreciated.

I vote for the Poly because of the monorail access. Both MK and Epcot are easy to get to, and that 6 year old is going to WANT to be at the MK!!

PS-- Please put me on your Christmas list. I'll be more than happy to refer to you as "Auntie" if it makes a difference :)

If the weather were a little warmer, I would say BC for the pool. Aside from the monorail, you have a view of the fireworks and water parade from the hotel.

I vote for the Poly. My 7 y.o. thought the Poly was so cool when we ate at Ohana. Heck, I thought it was so cool when we ate at Ohana!

I voted for the Polynesian because it sounds like the best Resort for you and because I personally think it has better atmosphere then the Beach Club.

If you were going to be swimming, I'd say BC. For what you want to do, though, go Poly. Can't beat the monorail.

I voted for the Poly. Nothing sounds better to me than being able to hop on the monorail after a long day at MK or Epcot (and it makes those early morning ADRs easy to get to!).

Another vote for Poly.
Reasons:
Location overlooking MK,
Mixed Polynesian Culture Theme
Monorail to resorts and MK,
Water launch to MK and GF,
Views of MK/fireworks/Electric Water Parade,
Close to GF, CR, WL for other dining options.
Close to TTC to access the Epcot Monorail.
Nice walkway to GF
Abundance of water recreation (Sea Racers) which can be fun even in Dec-Jan.
Younger children prefer to spend the majority of time at the MK
Easy access to return to the resort from the MK
You can now even reserve a MK view room if you choose or if their still available

My vote is for the Poly:goodvibes. The BC is close to Epcot and HS, but you can't beat the location of the Poly, either. The beach is also a great place to watch the fireworks:cool1: Plus, the monorail is a great convenience and the rooms are larger at the Poly:thumbsup2.

The Poly!!! We stayed there for 9 days and loved every minute of it:goodvibes The location is great, the rooms are wonderful, we loved the pool, and you can't beat being able to sit on the beach and watch the fireworks over Cinderella's castle!:lovestruc

Deffinately the Poly. Nothing better then having the monorail convience! Along with everything else that makes that resort wonderful! :)

I voted for the Beach Club (Wow, I am in the minority here!). I LOVE the Epcot resorts location. You have walking access to 2 theme parks, Epcot and DHS. We love the choices of the International restaurants of WS, so we generally get Park Hoppers and end our evening at a WS restaurants, you have the proximity of the Boardwalk and the free evening entertainment there, you can not underestimate the dining choices between the WS restaurants, the YC/BC, the Swan and Dolphin and all of the Boardwalk. And finally SAB is the best pool on property. You have a Marina and access to rental boats.
I have stayed at the Poly and I loved it. I would stay there again.
With younger children who need to nap etc, I would have voted for the Poly. But with a 6 and 13 y.o., I think the Beach Club is perfect. I think the 13 y.o. will love the Boardwalk.
Have a Fun Trip

you are spending a lot of your time at the parks - so why spend money on a deluxe.

now if you taking a couple days off - then definitely go with a deluxe - love the Polyn.

but you say yourself you are going to the parks - to me that means value.

the kids will love it. had a bunch of stuff for kids. big Icons. arcade

get 2 rooms (hopefully connecting - harder to get at the values because they are so in demand) - then the girls will feel really grown up - they have their own room.

would go with Pop.

that say the new suities at All Star Music - might be a better fit. (they are also hard to get).

if you are going to the parks non-stop - why spend money on a deluxe. Only spend money on a deluxe when you are going to enjoy all it has to offer.

Well we like the idea of being a monorail ride away from MK and Epcot, try to avoid the buses and (not to be a snob and I am hoping for a discount) we can afford to.

you can't avoid the buses - not if the kids want to see Studios or AK.

can almost see you avoiding Studio - but Ak - no way.

I know, but the kids really love MK and Epcot and since we are going to be there for just 3 full days and 1 half day and those 2 parks are going to be the bulk of our time that is why I was leaning to the Poly....plus if they have the Pirate and Princess Party one night it would be a very easy commute. If the girls do want to go to AK I think one day with a bus is doable! :flower3:

DH is driving me nuts because he really wants to stay at the BC but I think the girls would like the Poly better...what do you think?

if you want the monrail - then go with Polyn.

the BC/YC has bus service to the MK. - doing the rush hour in the morning it has its own bus - but if they need a nap - you might be sharing with D&S & BW.

stick with the Polyn. so you have easy transportation to both MK and Epcot.

now you can walk through Epcot to get to the monrail (there is no bus service from BC to Epcot only boat) - but with 6year old - won't do it.

plus you would have to get park hoppers.
