Planning on a September visit, trying to find which resort will be offering free dining, POFQ or Art of Animation. I know the codes have not come out yet but wanted to book now without having to cancel when the codes come out to change resorts.

Any help would be great, I tried to search but nothing comes up but old post from 2013.

It's hard to predict right now. They've been offering fewer FD rooms, and many have been specialty rooms.

POR Royal Rooms and CBR Pirate Rooms have been among the more consistent offerings.

POFQ rarely gets Free Dining. AOA Mermaid Rooms never get Free Dining.

Booking now does not insure you will be included in a free dining promo, if it is even offered. Only a limited number of specific rooms in some resorts are included in the offer. You would have to call and book one of those limited availability rooms. It would like be a new reservation, not applying the promo to your existing reservation. They do not do that automatically. Your existing reservation room would need to be one of those in the promo, if that happened at all.

free dining has definitely seen better times... usually used to fill less frequented resorts and types of rooms. free dining has a purpose for Disney they may just not need to offer it as much if at all anymore. honestly id rather have a good resort discount than free dining because we usually get deluxe dining anyways and that's not offered for free dates.

When I went in 2014, first trip to WDW we went in september specifically for free dining. The FD offers were gone by the time our window opened up. My TA explained to me that she got me a 35% off room discount and that I would have only saved about $50 more by getting free dining. Maybe some other discounts will open up for your window?

The resorts that Disney needs to fill rooms at will be the ones with the FD discounts. Which means, the more people that book a room thinking they will get FD when it comes out, the less Disney needs to offer discounts. Like a PP mentioned, just because you have a room booked doesn't mean you can get FD when it becomes available.

So, unless you're set on those resorts and planning to stay there without a discount, don't book it now. JMO (and I'm sure others) that pre-booking in the hopes of getting FD is one of the reasons the FD discounts are less and less each year. Plus it's probably easier to go online as soon as FD is released and book your vacation rather than be on hold for hours trying to cancel your old one, put another deposit down, etc.

Well your choices make this easy.
POFQ, never
AoA, only SUITES

And of course, there will be limited number of rooms at each resort that has it, so depending on your timing you may or may not get first choice.

Agree with this ...

If a free dining promo comes out and you want to take advantage of it, you will have to modify ANY booking you make now even if it's for the same resort. So, if you will only go if free dining is released, I would just wait until it comes out.

Well that make since, I just want the best price for our trip. Guess Allstar sports won't be booked up by then. Thank you for all your help, guess I will wait a while longer.

Well that makes it hard to decide on a resort. hmmm
Which is why there is no advantage to try to chase a promo now. Book what you want and are willing to pay what you book today. If you want/need FD then you are better off waiting.

Are you trying to choose a resort now or will you choose based on what discount may be offered when you wan to travel? I follow the sales, so if the only way I am traveling is on a discount, I don't book a thing. If and when the discounts are offered I choose from hte resorts that are available.

I would not book any resort if you want to stay where there is a discount offered. Wait and decide if and when the promo is offered becuase if you book before your booking is counterproductive. As others have already pointed out, DIsney only offers the inventory they want to fill.
