Which resort to watch Electric Water Parade?

We really want to see this and it looks like you can only catch it from a MK resort?

We were thinking the best place would be the Contemporary because according to a website I found, you can catch it at 10:05pm at the CR.

We don't want to miss Wishes or Specromagic.

Would you suggest heading from MK to the CR to see this or a different resort?

Also, where within the resort is the best place to catch it?

TIA!!

We watched it from the beach at the Poly. It was really nice, but I can't remember exactly what time it was there. Hopefully someone else can help with the timing!

Thanks for the reply. Poly would be my first choice of where to watch (it's so pretty there!), but according to the site I found with times, you catch it there at 9pm......I think that conflicts with Wishes or Kiss Goodnight, depending on the day.

We watched it from the WL and the Contemporary. I feel that they both have excellent views.

I know a lot of people enjoy the EWP and I'm not trying to make anyone mad, but I wouldn't get too excited about going see it if I were you. Unless it has changed in the last 2 years, it consists of about 10 pontoons with some lights. I would bet that some homes in your nieghborhood have better light displays at Christmas time. If you want to see it, don't let me stop you. I just wouldn't cut something else out to see it. Some people go see it expecting Spectromagic on water and that really isn't the case.

Here's the schedule for EWP:

9:00 - Poly
9:15 - GF
9:35 - WL
9:45 - FW
10:05 - CR
10:20 MK sometimes, during extended hours.

You don't mention what time Wishes/Spectro are during the night you're planning to see them. No matter when, it will be tight to make EWP on the same night. We always plan to watch EWP during a DIFFERENT night than when we see spectro. We pick one of the above resorts and make an earlier dinner ADR. Then we spend the time between dinner and the show just enjoying the atmosphere/shops at the resort. We like it at the Poly because we love watching Wishes from there another time besides the time we see it from MK...but it MUST be seen from MK, so if you only have one night, choose Wishes/Spectro.

We love EWP for its Disney-ness. It is very short and small-scale, and if I weren't emotionally connected to it, I wouldn't go out of my way just to see it. Now, combined with dinner and a visit to a beautiful resort, it's well worth the time.

ETA: If you can only see it the night you see Wishes, go for it; walk to the CR and then out to the beach or boat dock (I'm pretty sure it's on the Bay Lake side...someone please correct me if I'm wrong). The trouble is that after Wishes, depending on your spot, it may take too long to exit the MK through the crowds.

Thank you!!

We really do want to see this-just to relive the childhood memories :)

Hmm, I'm wondering if we should see it during our first night there.
What if we saw it next Thursday night? Will those times be the same?

We are not doing anything structured that day-only real plan is to head to Beaches and Cream for lunch, head over to MK to see these Banjo Players in Frontierland, and maybe resort hop a bit. We didnt make any ADR's for dinner and want to stick with CS that night to keep our night flexible.

Should we plan for Poly or CR?

You can also see the electrical water pagent from the Magic Kingdom. We saw it twice while we were leaving to go back to the POLY. We were going to load the monorail after Spectromagic and it went right by Magic Kingdom. We watched right there by the boat loading dock in front of the Magic Kingdom.

Times are always the same. I've read that when Wishes is at 9PM, EWP may run a little late. I don't ever recall it running late during my visits, but I don't recall the exact times of Wishes, either.

You will be able to view EWP equally (perfectly) from the Poly and the CR, but the panorama from the Poly (SSL, GF, CR and all of MK) is the nicest, IMO. It's an hour later at the CR than the Poly. I'd base your decision on what TIME works best for your party, not on the view of the parade. CS at Poly is not a food court, though. The only CS there is Captain Cook's, and while I enjoy the food there, the menu is more limited than, say, a food court. You could do CS in MK after the banjo players and then hop on the monorail, or you could consider making an ADR at Kona Cafe or 'Ohana, which are among our favorite restaurants on property.

ETA: Watching EWP and Wishes from the Poly has been a traditional 1st night event for our family! Great way to start the vacation for us.

HTH!

:thumbsup2

Thanks everyone!!! I was going to ask about this. We are heading to Ohana's at 7:20 for dinner and was wondering if we could see this. We have never seen it and would like to check it off our list. It doesn't matter if we miss Wishes because we have it planned on another day of our trip. :woohoo:

When we saw it from the CR a few years back, we had to wait until Wishes was over for it to start.

It is a non-miss for me & I have to see it on every trip-part of reliving my childhood but my older 2 liked it when they saw it so that is all that mattered & hopefully my youngest will like it too.

The music makes me happy.

Oh & at the CR it was at the boat dock.

We try to watch it at the Poly (we usually stay there) but the last trip we ran over at Downtown Disney that I told my dh we had to take a bus to the CR.

The only bad thing about watching it at the CR was the monorail was so crowded.

We were staying at the Poly so we needed the monorail to go back home. We had to wait 2 or 3 monorails to go thru before we could get on because the MK crowds were leaving.

I think we lucked out, but my family and I had reservations at the California Grill and were seated all the way in the back corner, it seemed like a room that was used for parties, but we were seated with other guests. We managed to be able to walk outside to see Wishes and get a glimpse of the water parade, but with no sound :(

I'm sure if you talk to the host, they will do everything they can to assist you, CM never seem to let anyone down.

Thank you everyone for this advice!!

We are down to our last bits of planning-just the light shows and parades and stuff!

We changed our itinerary a bit and we are going to try and see EWP on our first night, which is this Thursday!! :cool1: :cool1:

Our Thurs. plan:

-Arrive at CBR
-Head to BW for Beaches & Cream lunch
-Walk to Epcot/Future World
-Visit some monorail hotels

Now that we changed it up a bit, we can be flexible with which resort to watch it from. and enjoy a CS dinner at either.

I think I would like to watch (and listen to) EWP from Poly. Do you guys agree that this would be the best place to watch it? Anyone particularly like to watch it from GF or CR?

I *think* I remember reading that it starts at 9pm at Poly.

Now, I haven't been to Poly since early 1990's-where exactly do we go to get the best view-with music-of this parade?

I think someone said the beach-any particular section? How do we get to the Poly beach from the monorail?

Any suggestions on best CS places at the monorail resorts? Basic meals like chicken caesar salads, turkey sandwiches, rotisserie chicken, grilled chicken sandwiches, etc...

Also, how much time should we allow ourselves if we are traveling to Poly from another monorail resort?

I have seen it when staying at the Contemporary and Polynesian and if I were to choose between which Resort is better for viewing it, then I would pick the Polynesian. Now my experience from the Contemporary was watching it from our room which was great and we got to hear the music. However at the Poly you can go right on the beach and get up to it a lot closer, if that is important for you.

Up close on the beach at Poly sounds great to me!

Is the beach usually crowded at this time? (and on a thurs. night)

How early should we plan to arrive to get a decent view?

Any specific area of the beach to stand and view?

Thanks so much!!

I didn't notice like a huge number of people on there and there was a lot of room to move around. I would say arrive maybe 20 minutes before it starts or something so you can walk around the Poly and any area of the beach is good.

Just read on allears that Wishes starts at 8pm. Might as well head to Poly to watch Wishes first and then stay for EWP.

How long does Wishes last?

Is there a good view of Wishes from the beach at Poly?

Would you suggest getting to the beach at 7:40?

Cool-watching two shows at once from the beach should be beautiful!!
