I think I've almost convinced my boyfriend to do a thanksgiving trip. I've been looking at hotels that are available and I'm leaning towards either a club level Polynesian room or a king bed room at the Swan.

It would be a short trip and I'm not sure if we'd even go into the parks. I made a reservation at Garden Grove at the Swan for the thanksgiving dinner.

I like that I can have a king bed at the Swan. But I don't like the resort fee and the parking fee. I stayed there once with a friend almost ten years ago.

I've never stayed at the Polyneasian. It looks like a king bed isn't even a possibility there, which is disappointing. But I like that it's club level, I think the food for lunch and breakfast would be really convenient. I also made a reservation at Citricos which would be easy to get to from there.

Which should I pick?

I would consider the Polynesian in case you change your mind about the parks. That way you can do one day at MK and get the EMH.

I'm staying at Poly and have been looking at the Touring Plans room floorplans and the Tikiman Polynesian website. Both show lots of rooms with king bed options - I'm not sure if it's a separate room class that you have to book, or just a room request you'd make. I just read your original post more closely and saw that you are looking at club level - I checked the Touring Plans website and it does look like club level rooms are all two queens. Sorry!!

When I was looking on the website it just had two queens listed as an option. So it is possible to get a king?

It's possible. But a King room is only a request. Moderates are the only resorts where a,King room is a bookable category.

I'd seriously consider Swan - we loved being able to walk to the Boardwalk (or Epcot if you do parks) and other Epcot area resorts - lots of good food and drink options and ability to see Epcot and DHs fireworks without even entering the parks!

I would pick the Poly, especially if you think you are not going to go to the parks. We had a similar trip at the GF and AKL. In those cases, the money for a club room was worth it.

I like the Swan, we stay there often. It feels more like any regular hotel though.

i often find even with the parking and resort fee that the Swan/Dolphin is a good value. They also honor AAA and other discounts. The rooms have recently been redone and while no Disney touches I think they're lovely. There are some corner rooms that are basically mini suites with a sitting area. The restaurants between Swan and Dolphin are great and they just added a new grab and go spot.

I’d pick poly. You can see the fireworks and the water light show there. You can catch a bus from mk to walk around boardwalk if you want to.
Poly is my choice!

I usually prefer the Epcot resorts, but in your situation I would absolutely choose The Poly, it feels so much more like a destination in and of itself than The Swan does. You can even watch the fireworks and light pageant from the beach.

There are no king beds in the Hawaii longhouse:

I've stayed at both and for a no-park trip, I would pick Poly over the Swan. I think, overall, it's a better resort. I like the Swan, but we only book it when we want to stay in the EP area for park touring convenience and it's the cheapest option of the EP resorts. I wouldn't pick it for a no-park stay. For no-park stays, my top choices would be Poly, AKL or WL.

If it impacts your decision, lots of rooms at the Poly have king beds!

I know that Disney's website isn't always 100% accurate, but it does indicate that the only option for CL rooms at the Poly is queen beds, so I can see where the OP is getting her information.
