Here's the scenario:
I've stayed at RPR twice in the past and liked it very much. Coming down in Dec. for 1 night w/DBF who has never been to US. I booked the HRH on a APH rate because I thought it'd be fun to try something different. Now I'm hearing alot of not-so-good reviews about the HR. Should I stick with my ressie, or change back to the RP with something "tried and true"?

Really want this to be a great stay for DBFs 1st trip to US/IOA!! :teeth:

TIA!!!

I would not change, after all it is only for 1 night try it for yourself. We have 2 nights booked for early December and I am not changing because of anything posted here on the boards, everyone can and will have a different opinion or experience. We have stayed at all 3 and RP 2 times including this past August. We stayed at HRH the summer that it opened and thought it was great. We stayed at RP the summer it opened and also liked it. We then stayed at PBH the following summer, 2003 I think and really liked HRH and RP better. This August we stayed at RP and could really see the difference in the rooms, woodwork beat up and walls needing painting but had a good time lobby and outside areas were beautiful and looked the same. I chose HRH because we are only there for 1 full day and want the shorter walk time since the parks are only open till 6 and we just stayed at RP.

Keep what you have. That way you'll get to see it.
We post the pit falls so people will expect them and not let it ruin the vacation.
If you plan for all the bad stuff to happen, it probably won't.
Save all e-mails, print them, call the hotel 2 weeks before to make sure your ressie is still on file. Joke with them that you hope a room is ready when you arrive, and that you don't want to be moved.
Check in at 8am if possible and ask if a room is ready. If not, get your magic keys and head to the park. Again, joke with them and say you want a clean room, and you don't want to be moved to another hotel.
Expect that your room will not be ready until 6pm. Plan on eating dinner in the parks at 4pm.
When you enter your room, check the smell, and see if everything is clean before starting to unpack.
Don't bother house keeping, or the front desk with requests, they won't do it, they're too busy, unless you're a high roller with a lot of cash.

There, now that we've got that out of the way, you'll probably show up and everything will go like clockwork.

We're trying PStick with your reservation-We're trying PBH for a new experience this May. We've been to RPH the last 6 years.
Markey Dh and I commented on how beautifully maintained RPH is. We didn't see any beat up woodwork. We were there in June. Gee,there must have been some rough people staying there over the summer!

I think the woodwork thing is probably diferent in rooms just as it is house to house. Our kids were brought up to respect the things you have worked and paid for and our home has woodwork that looks as good as when we moved in almost 30 years ago and was never refinished. I'm sure some just let their kids burn off the excitment in the rooms and do not care. But the room was very clean, carpet was great and we love RPH, the lobby blew me away the first time. Also the dark wood does show every mark and I have a good eye as far as looking for things.

I planned on checking in early. We are at the Swan the night before and I always like to get to the new resort as early as possible.

My question is: Should I have "early check in" noted on my reservation?? I thought it might help.

And thanks for all your advice - I do want to stay at the HR and will go in with an open mind!!
