We have just had to cancel our disney trip for this weekend ....due to my DS (9) who broke his elbow and had surgery last night. We were going to stay at the All Star Music resort, but we are postponing until the fall and now want to stay at a moderate or deluxe hotel sometime this fall. I had a great room rate for this next week at the ASM, but had to pay for Dinning. Now with the free dinning plan, I might be able to stay at a nicer resort and get the dining included for not too much more! Both of my DS (11 & 9) love to swim and I was just wondering which resort has the best pool? Most of the delux resorts seem to have a slide or something. Any suggestions?

It's tough to beat Stormalong Bay at the BC/YC. The volcano pool at the Polynesian is cool too.

Gotta agree!

Stormalong Bay is certainly amongst the best themed pools. It is an attraction unto itself :sunny:

Stomalong Bay IS cool, is your son a strong swimmer, though? It is extremely large and difficult to keep a really close eye on your little ones all the time. The Volcano pool at the Polynesian is also really cool and not nearly so large. As far as the moderates go, I have heard that POR has a nice pool with a cool water slide. I would get the Disney Planning Video and watch the resort segments, they show the pools at each the resorts and you can get a better feel for what you would like.

I've only stayed at the value resorts and WL previously, but we decided to choose a moderate for our Oct trip. Based on recommendations from the DIS and from investigating the planning video/CD-ROM, we selected CSR partly based on the the cool Dig Site pool area. We also made a special trip to CSR last year to use some Q&C vouchers at the Pepper Market and really enjoyed the food there.

If you really are going to base your hotel selection on a pool I would avoid CR and WL as they have the tiniest pools. Stormalong Bay is cool as is the Poly pool. AKL also has a great pool. of the mod's I'd say CSR has the best with POR following in a close second. The pool at CBR is small also.

My kids loved the Poly Volcano pool. The pool at AKL is gorgeous, but the slide isn't really "cool" in any way, but a quick trot down a path from the pool and you're watching giraffes run around. That's pretty cool! GF pool wasn't any big deal. Our kids also loved the Goofy pool over at ASSp, no slide but Goofy shoots water at you!

The pool I want to try the most is the grotto pool that I saw pictures of, but I can't remember what resort has it!

SAB is the best. Grotto pool at S/D is a close second. POLY and BW are also good. CSR is good if you're looking for a moderate.

To the parents of younger kids who may be reading this thread: SAB is great, but it's not relaxing for parents of young kids. I'm not saying that it is BAD for young kids...the part of the pool with the sandy botom is quite shallow and everyone seems to love that part. They even keep one of the hot tubs not-very-hot, for little ones to enjoy. But the slide is pretty far away from the rest of the pool and the lazy river is VERY deep (8 ft?). Kids love this pool, but if your kids are of an age that need to be watched, it's going to be a work-out for the parents.

Thanks for all the advice!

GoodFerry: Yes, both sons are strong swimmers, but with one who will be just getting the use of his arm back (after he broke it) we will have to keep a closer eye on him.

It sounds like everyone agrees that SAB is the best, with Poly following at a close second.

Now all i have to do is see if I can book something.....wish me luck!
