I am planning our first trip (at Christmas time) for next December, and would like opinions on which resort you think has the best decorations. It doesn't matter if it is a moderate or a deluxe, I have plenty of time to save up. I finally convinced DH to go at this time, and I want to make it a festive as possible (I'm not sure if we will be going at this time again).

Thanks,

Cindy:)

We went for Christmas time but we didn't do the resort hopping thing - though we should've. I heard that the GF has a life-size gingerbread house that is used as a gift shop!! Also, we did see AKL and I thought the tree was beautiful.

I think Grand Floridian is absolutely gorgeous at Christmas time! The life size gingerbread house is adorable and their Christmas tree is breathtaking!!! We were very fortunate to be able to stay there in Dec 2002 - it was WONDERFUL!!!!!

Animal Kingdom Lodge and Wilderness Lodge is also done up very nicely for Christmas! (Sitting in front the fireplace in a rocker at the WL - so relaxing!)

The decorations tend to follow the hotel's theming! They are all really nice!!! We've stayed at the All Star Movies too, and they were even nicely decorated!!!

Enjoy your stay!!! We're trying Wilderness Lodge this Dec!

I think that the AKL is just so warm and magical at Christmas. The tree is of course a stiking centerpiece, but it is just a great place to feel the holiday spirit - the lobby is just so inviting. The darker tones are great for Dec - you feel all cozy when you are there.

The Beach Club would be my second choice I think.

I've seen the BI, Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom lodge. both AK and WL are really stunning. I guess I think AK is just a little more stunning just because of how different it is. This year I will see the Grand Floridian as we plan on eating there. I did like the BI and we'll be staying there again this year, but as far as REALLY stunning, the AK and WL are gorgeous.

We stayed at the AllStarMusic last Dec and did a great resort tour while there. I think all the resorts do a terrific job. All great, but different. We're staying at VWL for Thanksgiving and I can't wait to be there with the holiday decorations up. BW and YC/BC are beautiful as is GF. I don't think I could choose which one based on their holiday decorating. Too hard.

We stayed at ASMo last December and the decorations were a little..... sparse. We had a tree in the lobby and thats all I remember. But, we went to the CR for dinner and they had a beautiful huge tree out front and nice decorations inside. We also went to BWI and that was nicely decorated too. What is really nice is the way the parks are decorated and DTD too. No matter where you stay you will have a festive time, but I would say the better the resort, the better the decorations.

Wilderness Lodge is just beautiful. We like the theming at WL anytime, but at Christmas it is especially nice. I think a lot of this is based on what you prefer as far as decorations go. Some people really like the frills of Victorian and will like GF best. For use we love the Pacific Nortwest so WL is our favorite.

Two years ago I went to BW, BC, AKL, YC. They were all wonderful and unique. I think if you visit the deluxe resorts you can't go wrong. We will be going to all of them this Dec also and plan to visit a couple of moderates also.

We will be going for the first time in Dec this year and are soooo very excited. We picked the WL based on all the reviews I had read about their Christmas decorations. I don't know first hand, but heard it had really great decorations.

Can't wait!

Thanks for all the reply's so far. I am currently leaning toward either GF or WL. I think i'll save the BC/YC for when we will actually get to use SAB when it is warmer. We have never stayed at the GF before, I was saving it for a special trip. I think this may be the trip.:teeth:

We always tour the hotels during our December trip. The Contemp and the Poly usually are disappointing. The Grand Floridian is always nice, but last year, I think the tree budget had been cut- it looked somewhat smaller. Still, don't miss this one! Hope they have the free "chesnuts roasting on the open fire" again this year!

The Wilderness Lodge has a very nice tree but I don't remember the hotel having a lot of other decorations. AKL was interesting, but not beautiful.

Beach Club beats the Yacht Club. But our favorite, ONLY for the Christmas decorations is probably the Boardwalk. Just the right amount of traditional glitter, great colors, and always good Christmas music piped out to the boards.
