Which resort for QS lunch?

We are going to DW for the first time May 5, me, DW, DD5, DS2. We are staying at POR. We will probably have to go back to room for a nap for my son on most days and I was wanting to maybe have lunch on the way back from MK one day at another resort and maybe walk around and see the grounds, decor, etc. We are already doing Chef Mickeys at CR and planning on going to AKL one afternoon. What other resort would be good to go to for a QS lunch and to just walk around? Thought about GF, Poly, or Boardwalk. Which one would be best for food, ease of transportation back to POR? Other suggestions? Thanks. Did I mention this is our first trip? 6 weeks from today!!!!

Two of our favorite resort CS places are Captain Cooks at the Poly and Roaring Forks at the WL, both of which are very easy to get to from the MK . The Poly is just a few stops away on the monorail and the WL is a nice boat ride away. Those are two of our favorite resorts as well and both offer beautiful grounds to walk around and enjoy .

The Contemp Cafe is one our our new favorites. We ate there last 2 xmas trips. Really great food choices(not your average burger/chciken nuggets)..great salads, flat breads, etc. wonderful cupcakes.....then we shop at the CR shoppes take monorail trip around. etc.

I concur, love the Contempo Cafe. Great selection of food you don't find everywhere else and the red velvet cupcakes are really good. I try to stop there on every visit no matter what resort I'm staying in.

The resorts mentioned are really great places to eat. The only thing is if you need to get back to the resort for a little one to nap it's going to take quite a bit of time to travel between resorts. It can take an hour or more at that time of day.

Yes, to go from resort to resort can take a very long time if you don't have a car. The monorail resorts are really the only option if you don't want to make it a half day affair.

I would highly recommend the Contempo Cafe @ Disney's Contemporary Resort.

Thanks for the input. Was kinda wanting to see poly or boardwalk area as we are going to CR for chef mickeys. Would it be fairly easy to lunch in BW area then walk to epcot and take bus from there to POR? Or monorail from poly to trans hub and bus to PoR?

I am not sure of walking between any resorts or parks, each bus ride is at least ten to 15 minutes. The layout is not set up to walk between places, it would be like walking alongside the expressway for a few miles considering the way things are spread out.

In 2012 my DD and I took a morning and went from the POP to Magic Kingdom by bus and then took the boat to the Grand Floridian and ate (do not go there for quick service, the choices are very limited compared to the POP cafeteria) and then boat back to MK via Polynesian stop and it took from about 9am to 1:30 Pm to get back to MK.

I have learned not to resort hop as we call it unless you want to give up at least half a day to do so. The busses do not run between resorts so you would have to go from your hotel, to your park of choice then to different resort then back to park or downtown disney to transfer to bus back to your resort.

At night the safe place for us was to go to DTD(downtown Disney) to transfer buses as they run from DTD to the resorts much later than from the parks.

I would follow the other posters suggestion and use the monorail route to go between resorts for the shortest time of travel.

It is actually a short walk (about 10 mins) from the Poly to the trans hub...

I'm not sure the TTC have resort busses anymore.

Your best bet is from MK to either take the resort boat or monorail to either GF or Poly, both have nice CS. Poly has the nicest seating area at Capt. Cooks, and you can get Dole Whips too! GF has some nice choices, but don't like that the arcade is right in the CS seating area. Or as mentioned, you can easily get to CR too.

Then you can either hop back on the boat or monorail to MK to catch the POR bus.

You can go explore the Epcot resorts on an Epcot or DHS day.

Forgot to mention, POR is my fav CS for lunch! The make your own Pasta Bar is soooo yummy. Portions are huge, def. enough to share.

There really isn't much on the Boardwalk as far as QS goes. BC and YC don't have traditional food courts. I took my sons there one night to have dinner and we wound up eating at Boardwalk Pizza, which was very good, but not really what I had in mind (and it wasn't on the DDP).

If you did want to go to the Boardwalk area, your best bet for getting back to POR would be to take the boat launch to DHS and the bus from there to POR. To get to the Epcot bus loading zone, you'd have to walk through Epcot (which would require the park-hopper option).

I'm not sure that there are buses from the TTC to the resorts. In our many on-site resort stays, I've only been on buses that go directly to parks and have never seen buses marked as going to TTC.

Captn Cooks at the Poly has good food and the resort is beautiful. You could walknaround and visit the shops in the GCH. The shops are very kid friendly
