Which resort for next weekend?

We’ve decided to make an impromptu weekend trip next Thursday-Monday. I’ve looked in to renting points and have narrowed it down to AKV or SSR. We have never stayed at SSR, but my DH isn’t too enthused with it. Both of us have stayed at AKV before and really like it there, but I’ve heard that none of their restaurants are open (even Mara?)

Are SSR restaurants/counter service open? How far are the standard rooms from the pool there? And opinions on where we should stay would be welcomed! We are currently booked at Pop but can rent at AKV or SSR for basically the same amount.

AKV isn't open, only Kidani which has Sanaa and the pool bar open. Since JH isn't open, neither is the Mara so there's no QS but Sanaa has CS for breakfast. SSR has the Artist's Palette QS, Paddock Grill QS, and pool bar open.

Normally, staying at the villas at AKL would easily be our recommendation, but with so many things closed and uncertain, I'm really not sure it's worth it. They seem to be pushing most folks to the Kidani side of the villas, which on the surface is a nice place to stay. But with only the one pool and very limited food options at AKV, I'd probably look to SSR. This particular circumstance might be the only time I would ever tell someone I recommend SSR over AKL. But then, things aren't very normal down there, are they? If you go, hope things work out to be safe and fun for you!

Thank you! That’s what I thinking! You just confirmed it for me😊

If you decide to rent points, you will probably need to pay in full just to make the reservation. Unless you have found a reservation on one of the brokers' websites for sale. Members will not usually risk their points by making a last minute reservation without full payment.

And then, what if Disney closes up shop again next week. Just throwing it out there.

Yes, that was expected. We rented from a lady I’ve rented from before and we paid. We leave in 5 days so I pray they don’t close everything down before then. If they do, they do I guess. We are already out so much money from things we had to cancel for our wedding that was in June that we scaled way back. We are due so many refunds from people and have gotten only one so far. Also, NBA tickets we couldn’t use and they gave us a “credit” instead of a voucher and tickets to an event that was pushed from April to September but I know it’s not going to happen then either, yet there’s no way they are going to refund people their money. Oh and the RunDisney race in November that we are registered for that they just won’t cancel yet. I’m almost numb to it by now, lol.

You'd have to work that out with the person you rent from before you do the rental. If you go with a broker, they may give you a voucher instead of refunding you.
