Which resort for a waterpark weekend?

We are planning a long weekend trip in May to take our boys 7 and 3 to both of the waterparks. What would be a good resort choice? Would the FW cabins be too out of the way? We will be driving to the parks. We go to Disney a couple of times of year and we just wanted to do something a little different this trip. Any ideas are welcome.

Coronado Springs is very close to BB. Caribbean Beach Resort is very close to TL. Or OKW is very close to TL as well if you are looking for something more than just a hotel room.

The closest resorts to Typhoon Lagoon is going to be either Port Orleans or Caribbean Beach, and the closest to Blizzard Beach is definitely Coronado. Right in between would be Boardwalk, if you wanted to go a little fancier. If you need to do a value, then Pop Century would be my recommendation.

I'd do Port Orleans, either Riverside or French Quarter. They have some additional activities that might be fun: bikes, cane pole fishing. POFQ is not as spread out as the other moderates, and POR isn't bad either if you stay in one of the mansions. You can also take the boat to DTD.

Beach Club has the Storm Along Bay pool (best pool anywhere!) and is right across from the Boardwalk.

Coronado Springs is literally across the street from Blizzard Beach. There is a walking path but we drove it in 2 minutes.

We have never really considered Coronado, I may have to look into it. I am really curious about the cabins at Fort Wilderness though. Anyone been there without doing the theme parks? Also considering the Boardwalk. I would love to go back to the Poly, but that would torture the boys seeing the castle and not going over to the MK. Thanks for the replies.

The cabins at Fort Wilderness aren't very close to either of the water parks, if that is a consideration. They are closer to the Magic Kingdom.

We will be driving, so being really close does not concern us. We just wanted to stay somewhere different, that we would not normally stay. We were at POP for a week in October and are trying to stay away from the value resorts. It seemed very crowded. We are also not crazy about food court dining.
