Hi! DH and I will be traveling with our 16 month old, we are debating between BCV and BLT... Any recommendations? Have you traveled with a small child, what mishaps or advantages did you run into? Which resort worked out for your family?

I would lean toward BCV because of the better kids area in the sand bottom pool.

I would choose BLT. Being able to walk to the MK is awesome with younger children. Our twins are now 5 and we have been 9 times with them. Our easiest trips have been when we stayed at BLT. We still spend most of our time at MK so BLT makes it super easy. As for BCV, we will return when our children enjoy DHS more and are out of strollers. We found the bus transportation to the MK terrible.

With a kid that young, if I were you two, I would take this time and pick a resort that you and your husband want. You hopefully have many years and more trips where your decision will be based upon that toddler to teen. A 16 month old can tag along with a mom and dad who are experiencing a trip at their fave/wish hotel. They will all work great. Make the hotel about you and your husband and the park plans about the toddler.

Just a thought. :thumbsup2

My wife and I got to spend the last pre kid vacation at CR and it was great. After my daughter and then twin sons, we spent the next 20 years and ten trips at All stars, Pop, POR, CB and finally WL when they were grown. Now, we are back to picking places we want!

I agree with Tigger's ally. I would pick the resort that will make the trip as easy as possible for you and your spouse. When my son was that age, we stuck with monorail resorts as we spent most of our time at MK and EP and wanted to keep the stroller folding and bus rides to an absolute minimum. If you will be spending most of your time at MK, I would go with BLT. If you are spending most of your time at EP/DHS, go with BCV.

we have a 5 year old son and we've taken him 11 times staying at many resorts and the easiest trips have for sure been the ones at monorail resorts so i'd go with blt. mk used to always be and still is often the most visited park. being able to walk or use the monorail...not having to fold up a stroller that may have a sleeping child in it is nice.

Another vote for BLT. Stayed at AKL in sept with 2 and 3 year old and wished I had the convenience of a monorail resort since we spent most of time at mk. It would have been nice to quickly head back to the resort for naps.

When we go in May with DS 6 and DD 17 months we are staying at AK Kidani in a 1 bedroom villa using points. It was the best value for the money but I would have stayed at BLT or CR in a heartbeat if I could have. I'm super excited about this trip but the monorail would be sooooo nice. My mom will hang back at the resort with DD quite a bit but when DD does go to the parks it would be sooooooo nice not to worry about the stroller on the buses.

When is was time to take our girls to Disney for the first time only the BC would do. We brought our first when she was 14 months old and our second when she was 15 months old....the BC is centrally located and the pool is the best. It was relaxing just to put the baby in the stroller and take a walk around the lake. Your doing something without doing something if you get what I'm saying.....:thumbsup2

Thank you all for your suggestions.. Hopefully DH and I come to an agreement on a resort soon.

We went last year and stayed at BCV and my little guy was 15 months old.

We loved staying there, and both kids (including my DD who was 5) loved loved loved the pool and the surroundings.

I loved being so close to Epcot, but, my son did NOT like the bus rides. If I had to do it again, I'd stay at BLT or VWL, maybe.

I don't think you can lose on either, mostly just a preference for you of being close to MK or Epcot / Boardwalk area.
