Which onsite resort do you think is more kid-friendly? Our kids ages are 6 and 13 so definitely a fun pool area is a must. I was leaning towards HRH but wasn't too thrilled with the photos of the rooms on their website. I don't know if it is the decor or layout or what but I guess I was expecting more. Unless I missed something, but it also looks that a lot of the rooms do not have balconies... Is this correct? Any opinions/advice would be helpful. Thanks

We stay at the HRH every year on our trip to Universal. The pool area is really great. It has sand on one side and waterslides at the end. There is a great pool bar/food area and underwater sound system. I don't think there are any balaconies on any of the rooms. We have never had one. The rooms are a nice size and we enjoy them. They are completely different than the theming at any Disney hotel so you can't compare them at all. Can't offer any opinion on the other two hotels but we have no complaints about HRH and will be there in less than a month.

Our kids are 5 & 3 and we will be staying at RPR again this year. The pool is AWESOME!! It has a sloping entrance like a beach and it has a pirate ship play area with water shooters and water falls. The rooms were sufficient for us...3 adult & 2 kids. Hope this info helps.

We just got back from our first stay at the HRH. I loved the pool area-- zero-entry, music playing-- sometimes a live band, lots of pool chairs, a great slide... it is a fun atmosphere. I was not thrilled however with our room or the hotel itself. I missed having a balconey, our room was bland, and the hotel theming was just not me. I have stayed at the Royal Pacific and much preferred the tropical theming at that hotel. The pool is great there but it does not have a slide-- just a water play area for small children. You can pool hop to any of the pools so we went over to the Portofino for a swim. The PBH is beautiful and has lots of yummy places to eat. The pool is very nice there-- it has a slide but there is a limited number of pool chairs. It is quieter than the HRH pool. So, if the pool is your main concern go to the HRH. If the theming and room are more important go for RP or PBH--- just my opinion. :)

Thank you for your responses. I can't fork over the kind of money for portifino so I am definitely deciding between HRH or Royal Pacific. In the past I have always preferred tropical themed hotels but I might take my chances with HRH for the kids. How does the dining compare between those two?
