We've always stayed at the AS resorts but wanted a change this time, which one is geared more for kids. I have 2 DS ages 13 and 8. We are just going for 3 days and would like to get some idea of which one would be better.

The pool at CSR is better than CBR. Larger slide and pool but if you want to be close to food court and pool then stay at CBR.

CBR also has sandy beaches, volleyball, game room, playground, hammocks that you can use from any part of the resort. It also has a hair wrap and tattoo station at the main pool. For the adults there is Banana Cabana a bar at the main pool. The main pool also has a hot tub. The quiet pools are nice also and are at each village in CBR.

You can't go wrong with either. I have pictures on my web site for CBR.

Have a great vacation.

Both of these resorts are great and good for kids. CBR is brightly colored with lots of tropically landscaped courtyards, beaches and many pools, the main pool being a Pirate fort with a small slide and small waterfall. There are hammoks on the beaces as well as a small playgorund ( colorfull plastic slide and jungle Gym) at each village.
CSR is a bit more subdued in color but has three very different themed areas. There are 3 quiet pools and the large main pool with the big Aztec pysarmid with water cascading down the steps into the pool and a nice long slide. There is a fun imaginative playground near the pool with the same Aztec theme.
Which ever one you choose will be good but I think the kids would like the pool at CSR better unless they are super huge Pirate fans.

CSR hands down. The main pool area has a volleyball court, arcade, playground, hot tub, hair wrap station, large slide, large pool and a small pool (very small) for kids.

Try for cabana 8a to be extremely close to the main pool area and bus stop #4 with a short walk to the main building or cabana 9b to be extremely close to the main building and bus stop #1 with a short walk across the wooden bridge to the main pool. The other cabana buildings in between are close to the quiet pool and situated between 8a and 9b.

Check out my website for CSR below.

Good luck deciding!

With kids 8 & 13, if you plan to swim (you don't say when you're going) I'd recommend CSR. We were at CBR for the first time 2 weeks ago. I loved the resort, but my kids (8.5 and 10) thought the pool area was "lame". The pool at CBR is great for little ones, but it's much smaller than CSR and the slide is pretty short. I loved the CBR rooms - nice and large, planty of storage space, two sinks and great theming. I think most of the rooms at CBR are just as far from food as they are at CSR. At CSR, if you're close to the Dig Site (far from the Pepper Market) you can get food there (burgers, chicken salad and drink refilss). At CBR everything is located near OPR (pool and all food), there is no other food option if you can't get near OPR. We had requested to be close to the main pool and OPR, but were assign Jamaica Bldg 41 which was a good 10 min walk.

Having stayed at both numerous times (6 times at CBR, 5 at CSR, my 6th coming up in August) I would have to say CSR.

I stayed at CBR on trips where I ranged from 5 to 13. I loved this resort, it was colourful and tropical and there were lots of playgrounds. But my only problem with it now, having stayed at CSR is that the main pool is quite small in comparison.

I've stayed at CSR on trips from when I was 13 to the present (18) and I LOVE This resort. I know I would have loved it as a kid too! The pool is incredible. I believe it is the biggest one on Disney property, after Stormalong Bay at the Yacht & Beach Club.
The food court has more variety, the playground, though I've never used it, looks cool. The pool has all sorts of fountains and an arcade right there. There is a snack bar that sells fries and burgers and chicken strips.

Anyways, my vote is for CSR and If you'd like more info on it please visit my CSR faq thread. (The link is in my signature)

Our kids were a bit younger than yours when we went last year (6 and 8), however, the only thing we enjoyed about CSR was the pool. Pepper Mkt just didn't suit our family and after spending 3 nights at POR, we found we enjoyed the shaded atmosphere of POR to the sunny, spread out CSR. We have never been to CBR and are currently trying to pick a different resort for our trip next year. good luck!

My family enjoyed our time time at CSR. We found the room adequate and comfortable, we loved the Dig Site. The children spent our last afternoon in the pool and playground. WE found the bus service terrific and just like the whole ambience of the resort.

I should note that when we go to DW it is during the off season of January to early February.

We have stayed at both resorts. The pool slide at CSR is sure to be a big hit with your 13 year old. The breakfast buffet at Maya Grill is wonderful! I like the rooms a little more at CBR, though. (And Shutter's is such a great dinner restaurant!) If it weren't for the slide I would have to give it to CBR. You'll have to decide what role swimming is going to play in your vacation. If it's a top priority I would say go with CSR.

I agree with most of the above posts. I really like the atmosphere at CBR for families, but I doubt your 13 yo would be caught dead going down that slide! If the 8 yo is a good swimmer, they might feel the same way. CSr is a beautiful resort-more deluxy than CBR, although I liked the room at CBR better (I did like the one at CSR). The Pepper market is GREAT!!!
