Which rental car to fit wheelchair

Hi, we are traveling to orlando with a fold up wheelchair (not one with big back wheels). The backrest doesn't fold down.

There is just the two of us & we normally get an economy car (first time with wheelchair), Not sure if it will go in the boot, However on our last day we will need to fit it in the back of the car, as we will need to put our cases in the boot, have to be out of the villa by 10.30, and won't be getting to the airport till 5pm.

Can anyone advise us of an american car we can fit a wheelchair on the back seets or behind the front seats.

Sometimes with economy cars you can fold the back seats down to get more storage room. We have 2 wheelchairs that we have to pack, so we will always rent a full-size car. We have tried a mid-size car in the past, but it was very tight .... there are also 4 of us. Why not rent from National or Alamo, sign up for their frequent renter cards and you will usually be guaranteed what you sign up for, but will have a choice of any car in that particular line. We did this on our recent trip to Las Vegas. Rented a full-size car and when we got to the airport had our choice of anything, from a Hummer to an SUV to a convertible. We chose the mini-van, which we wanted in the first place but it cost too much to rent. We saved over $500.00 buy renting a guaranteed full-size car and getting a mini-van.

Barb has some great ideas! We always rent from Alamo and ALWAYS get an upgrade for some reason! It is wonderful! We have a wheelchair and we can always fit it pretty good in a full size and barely in a midsize. My son has special needs so we always end up getting two cars since we are usually splitting up with him. I think you might be good with a full size car!
