Which Razor scooter?

I want to get my boys, 6 and 8, scooters for Christmas. I looked on Amazon, and there are several different models for the Razor. Can anyone recommend which to get? There's an A2, A3, Pro. Maybe more. Help! I think I can get free shipping on Amazon, but has anyone seen them on sale anywhere in the stores?

We got DD8 the A3 last year when she was 7. We chose it because the wheels are a bit bigger in circumference (25mm...about an inch) and give more balance. She rode both and said the A3 felt more solid....or something like that. It is the envy of our cul-de-sac. When the kids get their scooters out, everyone wants to ride HERS.

Last year Walmart only sold it in red, but they call it the Something-or-other 125 (for 125 mm wheels) instead of the A3. It's a marketing thing. But it's the same scooter. But they'll only sell ONE color. It was $10 cheaper than anywhere else. Sadly, DD did not want red. :rotfl:

I highly recommend the A3. Every kid that rides DD's wants one.

I second the A3. I got my son just the standard (which I think they now call the A2) when he was about 4 and it was fine. For his 7th birthday this year we upgraded him to the A3, and like the pp said - it's the hit of the neighborhood. We got ours at TRU, and I haven't seen much of a sale on them.

Just got back from Walmart and they have their version of the A3 again this year. It's red this year too. It's called the AW125 at Walmart. I think it was $39.95.

If you look at ads during Dec., such as Academy, Sports Authority, etc. keep in mind that they will advertise the A3 in a certain color but that doesn't mean they will have it in that color. In fact, odds are they will not. We found out the hard way. If your child has his heart set on a certain color, buy early or order from Amazon. If color is not a big deal, you may be able to get a sale price between $39.95 and the more common $49.95 price. :santa:

Anybody have the Pro? I'm leaning towards that one because an adult could ride it (ME!) and the others have a lower weight limit. The price is not much more.

My DS9 (almost 10) reallllllly wanted one, loves riding his friends down the street. I went ahead and got him the PRO from Amazon, best Price I found. It was only $2 more than the A3 and looked like it might hold up a little better for his rough disposition.....and the weight limit seemed better, he's a big boy for his age at 93 lbs (playing football this year sure made him hungry). Besides maybe it will still hold in on the COOL factor for him. Oh ya, and did I mention it was FREE SHIPPING!

Princess Tink -- My boys are smaller, probably around 50 pounds and about 4 feet tall. The specs say for 6 and up, but I've also read on the Amazon reviews that the Pro model is longer and the handlebar higher. Would you say this would still be appropriate for a smaller child?

Looks like it should be delivered tomorrow afternoon....I will let you know as soon as I can get it out of the box.

I can tell you I looked on several different websites ....and here's what ToyRUs' website said: The Razor™ Pro Model kick scooter features a rider-preferred deck design and a double-stacked head tube clamp for added durability. It's set-up with extra-thick foam grips and a rear fender brake for easy stopping. Recommended for ages 6 and up.

Thanks, Princess Tink. I didn't realize you hadn't received it yet. Please post when you get it.

I ordered from Amazon the A kick Scooter for my son who is 5 1/2 - it was 29.99 and free shipping and it came in Red his favorite color. Hope it is decent! I was at Target this weekend and they had a Razor Scooter in Blue sale for 18.99 which is a great deal - if i would of known i probably would of got that BUT i already ordered and received it and it does love Red!

Sorry, I didn't end up picking it up from our warehouse until this afternoon.

Anyhow, got it out of the box and the conclusion is..................YES! The handlebar is adjustable, it goes pretty low and seems to extend up pretty far. Perfect for a wide range of kids, from short to extra tall. And the adjustments on it were easy enough to work, no tools needed.

I got my Razor Pro today. I adjusted the handlebars up, which worked fine. But now I can't get the handlebars to adjust down. Is there some trick to doing this?

There should be a little clip looking thing (kind of wraps around the bar) around where the 2 bars slide in and out.....sorry I only know things as thingies and gizmos. Anyhow this kinda opens and closes....open allows the bar to slide in and out, closed locks it.

Thanks for the quick response. Yes, I opened that thingy to adjust the bar up, and it worked fine. Then I opened it again to put it down because I wanted to store it, but it won't go down. I thought maybe there was something else you had to do to make it go down. This would be my luck.

Okay. I got it. I guess I'm a little mechanically challenged.

In addition to the thingy that pulls either in or out, there's also one of those little raised buttons on the side that you have to push in to release it. I didn't notice it right away because it was on the opposite side of me.

Thanks for your help.
