We are trying to plan a trip for Feb 2003. We will visit during off-season (value) when the Florida Resident Savings are really great. Stay is at Ft Wilderness or another home-away-from-home resort. Unfortunately, winter Fla Resident announcements won't be released for awhile.

Question: Are Florida Resident Savings typically better than Annual Passholder or DC ?? We also have a relative that works for WDW and can get rooms with an employee discount but I don't know what the discount rate is...

I really want to start planning - it's so hard to wait. I need to pick some dates for dining ressies (if nothing else!) Any info is appreciated.

Hi!

DC rates are usually only 10 - 15% off rack rate. AP rates can be as high as 40% off. Some codes (you can find them at www.mousesavers.com) can be anywhere from 20 - 40% off as well (I think). Employee discounts, I BELIEVE, can be up to 50% off. You'll have to do some research on the history of discounts for that time of year. Also, you may want to ask your friend who works there to get a quote if he/she can. Typically, codes and AP rates aren't released until about 3 months before the time you want to go. You may want to book the room, just to have it, then when AP rates or codes come out, just have your reservation modified to reflect the new rate.

I don't know what Florida Resident discounts are like, since unfortunatley, I don't live in Florida (yet...). Hopefully someone will be able to help you with that part of your question!

Hope this helps you a little.

Florida resident (and even other State-specific) discounts are usually the best; I generally get 45% off. The problem is they only come out a month or so before they go in effect. The current discount codes and AP rates, however, are very good, up to 40% in some cases. I've got the Contemporary booked for November at 33% off on an AP rate, and I'm hoping to do better if (when) Florida rates are announced (probably late Sept.).

Mousesavers.com has just added a section on historical room discounts for the past few years, so you can compare historically how they have been. I think if you look it over, the "state specific" (not just Florida) discounts are the best.
