We will be going to WDW this Saturday through Wednesday (14-18), a party of 5 (one is less than 2 years old) the rest are adults. Which Rainforest Cafe location is the best one to go to? Are they both exactly the same, or is one "themed" better?

neither is any better than the other. You may find it easier to get into the one at AK though.

I can't speak from experience but I have heard the one at AK is better.

I think that the one in Animal Kingdom is better simply because it serves breakfast and the Downtown Disney location does not. Breakfast is the only meal I consider to be worth eating at the Rainforest Café.

Why do you consider breakfast to be the only one worth eating there? We've never been, although we have been wanting to try it, just never could find the time. Is it because it is a "chain" restaurant or something else?

I agree with the PP that the one at AK may be easier to get into. The one at DD always has a long wait, whereas the one at AK is usually much less even at dinner.

It's mostly just that meals later in the day tend to be very crowded, and we find the menu offerings less appealing and more overpriced. It's just not something that we'd be willing to spend time or money on. Then again, my partner and I do not have children. I'm sure kids would get a kick out of the atmosphere and that goes a long way in Disney.

I feel the same way (breakfast only at Rainforest cafe)...because the other meals are pricey and the food is only ok. Not bad, not great. But breakfast was awesome! The French toast is my favorite. And the prices at breakfast are reasonable.

Add in the fact that you can enter directly into the park from the restaurant, and you got yourself a good breakfast/touring itinerary. This alone makes it the better option. You can actually plan your entire day in the parks around eating breakfast at the Animal Kingdom location.

It's true, though. Breakfast is the only meal worth eating there, both in cost and quality.

I say go to AK, we like to do an earlier lunch there on the way out of the park (we are the type to avoid parks in midday heat), gives you a nice chance to cool off in some good air condition. I think the one in DTD is always overcrowded no matter when you go, but the one at AK can have some good times to dine at "off" hours. The food isn't the best on property, but for a themed dining experience it's pretty good. A tad overpriced, but then again what isn't at the world? we don't exactly choose it for a budget vacation destination haha.

My then 2 1/2 twin nephews who loved dinosaurs and animals, completly freaked out at Rainforest. For two years after the experience whenver they saw a monkey at the zoo or in a store (stuffed animals and such) they asked if it was a "bad Monkey". They sat us right by the booth with the monkeys and they started to move and yelp and those boys came unglued, and they were never easily frightned boys, we had to tell them to change our order to go. And when the whole resturant was active we had to go outside. If you've never been I'd reconsider taking your little one.

The menu and theme is the same at both locations but to me, the Downtown Disney one has better service and is more convenient but it is usually more crowded. But i really encourage you to go the T-Rex cafe instead. It was made by the same company that does Rainforest Cafe and everything is ten times better.

RFC at AK is much less crowded. It serves breakfast. But otherwise I don't see any differance!

The biggest difference is the breakfast at AK, and it is really good
