Here is the options I am looking at (providing we can get ADR), please note that no one is a huge princess fan in my family (2 boys ages 3 & 10 and dd age 13), but while in WDW you have to do something princess....RIGHT?:)

1. Breakfast as Akerhus (Why? Do princess experience and then free up $$$ to do Wishes dessert party)

OR

2. CRT early dinner (Why? At WDW, you should eat in the castle right?)

you could do breakfast at the castle - cheaper and the dessert party. No one knows if they'll continue the terrace dessert party so do it while you can!

Akershurs--for breakfast.
much cheaper than CRT
better character interaction than CRT
better food than CRT.

Hmmm...no one says you *have* to do a princess meal!? (Unless it's really you who wants to do it, if so, that's ok and go with what YOU want to do too!)
Are there other characters your kids really love? I would ask them their input before spending the money either way if no one is a huge princess fan. Yes, eating in Cinderella's Castle is a neat experience, but pricey.

If you DO want to stick with a princess option, I would say this since we've done both: Do the Akershus breakfast, great experience and food, and then you get to have the dessert buffet experience as well, and then just take an extra 20 mins. "touring" the castle in the MK, by walking up close around the different pathways, taking some nice photos, taking time to "smell the roses" and enjoying the beautiful details of the castle. Walk through it from Main Street into Fantasyland and enjoy the beautiful mosaic on the wall that so many walk right by.

A little bit of all the Disney magic....

Wrong! You don't need to do a princess meal if no one is really into it. CRT in particular is not worth the money otherwise. If you believe you would enjoy the Wishes dessert party more, choose that option. Or better yet, do the dessert party and spend the money on something else. Are there other characters they would enjoy more?

Pooh characters are at CP. Chef Mickey's is only a short monorail ride away from MK.

At Ecpot there is always Garden Grill if they would prefer some classic characters. I believe both are cheaper than CRT for dinner.

speaking of the dessert party. What do you get for your money in that?

You def do not have to do a princess meal while at WDW. Once my DD3 has outgrown her princess craze, I don't know if I will ever have another princess meal again. She has already been twice and we do every princess thing we can for her while there.
Why not look at doing another meal? Ask the kids what they want? And if you are really insistent on doing Akershus or CRT, I would say CRT as the price is only $5 more each.

I should probably add that I have dined at both Akershus and CRT and prefer CRT for the ambience and totally think it is worth the $5 extra.
But I do have to mention that I do not think any breakfast is worth $45 though. We always do the DDP, so I never have to pay too much attention to the meal prices.

Man, that looks like a stomach ache waiting to happen. heh

It sure does! Am I the only one who thinks $21 an adult is an awful lot to spend on sweets? I could spend $21 and get everyone in my family enough sweets for all of us to enjoy while we watch the fireworks on the bridge next to the Wishes party.

Have you considered 1900 Park Fare at the GF? It's a buffet. It only has Cindy, Prince, step-sisters/mother.
I have never done the breakfast there (it is also a buffet) and not sure about the characters but it is alot less that CRT breakfast and you could stop and do it on your way to MK for the day.

I LOVE CRT but it would be hard for me to put ALOT of $$ into it if EVERYONE isn't excited about it.

Over those two I would pick CRT. We didn't really love the Akershus, but thats just us. We haven't been to the castle in years but now I have a dd 14, ds 12 and ds 4 and 2. We are heading back to the castle this time because all the kids wanted to. The breakfast was fine and the kids just like the experience of eating in the castle. What can I say, if they want it so be it :)

I actually re asked them the other day (most especially the ds 12 ) are you sure you want to go there and not some other place. He said no, if your going to Disney you need to eat in the castle. I guess everyone has their opinion of what they like lol

Needless to say this trip is all about character meals, we are hitting CP, 1900 Park Fare, Ohana, CM, and Garden Grille. This trip is all about kids.

We have eaten at Akershus for dinner for all our trips. It's one of my girls' favorite restaurants. We've also eaten at CRT. While it's fun to say you've eaten there, I think it's a bit too hyped up personally. Surprisingly, my girls enjoyed Akershus better. ???? I would save the money and go to Akershus.

There is ANOTHER option here:

1900 Park Faire Dinner (at the Grand Floridian).

Cinderella, Prince Charming, evil stepmother and step sisters.

Out of the 3, I prefer the Akershus breakfast...but you don't typically get Cinderella, so keep that in mind.

I will also echo the sentiments of the rest of the crew: There is NO need to do a princess "event" because you 're at WDW. If you WANT to...great. If not...they're expensive and crowded. Save the money and do things you DO want to do!

We did both in December 2009. My 6 year old granddaughter did not care for Akershus but really liked the CRT. The food was good and "it is the castle". The atmosphere is great even without princesses. We did a late lunch prior to the MVMCP. BTW, I have generally seen the princesses try to fuss over boys. One other option that I would mention would be the 1900 Park Fare dinner at the Grand Floridian. You get the step-sisters, Lady Tremaine along with Cinderella and Prince Charming. The Step-sisters and Lady Tremaine are usually a blast.

I'm not a huge fan of CRT. Other then the experience, it's not worth the $$. i love Akershus and so does my girls.

I second 1900 PF. The sisters are so funny, the boys might get a kick out of it.

Another vote for dinner at 1900 PF at the GF. My impression is that the kids might or might not care, but the OP would like a princess meal - and there's nothing wrong with that. 1900 PF gives you Cinderella and her Prince, plus wonderful interaction with the "evil" (read: "hysterically funny") Steps. At Askerhus, although the salads/appetizers are buffet style, you each have to order a single entree (and the under-10s have to order from the kids menu). More choices available at a buffet.

Note #1: you do NOT get these characters at breakfast - it's British Disney then: Mary Poppins, Alice & the Mad Hatter, and some Winnie-the-Pooh characters.

Note #2: even with the earliest dinner ressie, I would not schedule the Wishes dessert party the same night. You'll be too full to really enjoy it. For the dessert party day, schedule a big late lunch. Don't bother with dinner. Go straight to dessert. Hey, it's Disney - endulge!
