We are considering staying at either resort but we can't decide. Which pool would be considered bigger? Isn't the theme at the Poly better too?

We stayed at both last October. Both are lovely. Great theming. Remember that the Polynesian is just that, Polynesian. The pool is a volcano waterslide. When we were there it was super packed on Friday (checkin day). We went to the Halloween party that night. Went to parks on Saturday, made an effort to get back so kids could try pout the pool to compare it to WL, found it closed for sanitizing, (Yep, the bad stuff happened!:( ) It never did reopen before our check out on Sunday afternoon. The WL pool, while it may be a little smaller, is a lot of fun. I liked the fact that the slide loaded and let out on the same side so you as a parent could plop yourself in a chair and keep an eye on the kids easily. At the GF they load on one side and come out all the way across. I think the Poly pool has a load pattern like WL. It is a zero entry pool as well. The WL themeing is great if you like the old park service lodges of the 30's and 40's. It's lobby is breathtaking, moreso tahn the Poly IMO. The rooms, however, aresmaller than the Poly and only sleep 4, whereas the Poly sleeps 5.

The Poly pool looks much bigger in the pictures than in person I think. I was dissappointed that it was so crowded our whole stay but we used the quiet pool. I really based our decision on the pool at the Poly and it is probably great if you can get in it. So probably the best pool is the one you can use and enjoy.

I sure the main Poly pool is bigger. However, remember the Poly is much larger than WL. Plus, WL has 2 pools.

We really loved the WL pool areas during our stay. We found ourselves spending much more time at the resort than we normally do.

I agree about the WL pools. I just personally liked the compactness of it, as I mentioned before, it made it easier to keep an eye on twokids.

The Volcano pool is not as large as the pool at WL, but the slide is better. There is another "quiet" pool at the Poly. So each resort has 2 pools. We usually swim at the quiet pool and do not find it too crowded.
I think you will be happy with either. We did notice when we stayed at WL that in Nov(cant speak to other times of the year) the pool ended up in the shade late in the day. It made it quite chilly...Does anyone know if this is true for other times during the year?
Enjoy :sunny:
