we are taking a day to go to seaworld
we are starting by doing chef micke's for breakfast
then seaworld
followed by cirque du solie at night

i was quoted $77 for a car rental for a day picking up early morning
and returning it the next morning

i think i read somewhere a taxi to seawrold is about $40 ? so $3 more than rental, BUT how late do the bussed run from DTD to get back to ASMo?

which idea is better?
oh there will be 6 adults and 1 6yo

Personally, I vote for renting a car. :moped: Make sure you ask for AAA discounts if you have them - also if you have or know someone who has an Entertainment Book there are great coupons in the book. Having a car will give you the freedom to eat, shop & sightsee where ever and whenever you want. My experience in Orlando is traffic can be a pain so if your paying for a cab it can get rather costly.
Just my personal opion... have a great trip!!!!!!!!!

funny you bring up that question-- after our last 2 trips- Sept 06 and just back last week- I am so tired of the buses!

I said to DH we should rent a car next time so we dont have to wait for a bus, and end up standing b/c there are no seats and blah blah- he said if you rent a car you are not going to want to wait for the shuttle to take you out to the parking lt to get your rental car! :rotfl2:

he said he would like to check into renting a car vs getting a taxi to drop us off daily at the front gate of the park we are going to!

has anyone ever done this?? or are we insane-- not sure if I want the answer to that one! but let me have it :teeth:

We have just returned from our fifth trip. We have flown to WDW our past two trips and have rented a car on both trips. This trip we didn't have any plans offsite, but I wanted a car just in case. We didn't DO anything offsite this trip and still put 178 miles on a rental. I guess it is all in what your personal preferences are. We booked a late night dinner in Epcot and were worried about having to run to catch a bus back, so I said let's just drive to Epcot and not worry at all. We did drive and had dinner with a very nice young couple who were facing the same situation. We finished dinner and Ecot was EMPTY when we finished. They were bordering running for the bus and we told them they could gladly ride back to the same resort as us. We gave them a ride back and we didn't have to worry about scrambling back to the bus. Very nice young couple from Louisiana. Anyhow having a vehicle at your disposal is a great asset. One morning we waited for the bus at the resort (on an Extra Magic Hour) morning for the park we were visiting and the bus came so late( 45 min.) that when we arrived the park was already open to everyone. This was not a problem for us, but others waiting had the Character Breakfast scheduled and were furious. Bottom line is rely upon your own transportation for IMPORTANT scheduled events. P.S. we drove to every park after this happened to us, so we weren't waiting on a bus for anything. Rental cars also free up your options for offsite dining or supplies, which are rarely more than a couple of miles away. Let me know if I can be of assistance on offsite (and close) dining options. Bottom line is I told the wife I don't want to be there without the option of having a car at our disposal again. It really allows a lot more freedom without having to meet their schedule. Hope this helps someone. :thumbsup2

:moped: I despise being without transportation that I control on my own terms...lol we went for 2+ weeks in Sept and had a deluxe mini-van for the entire time and only cost like $400 so I would look a little harder for a better price than 70 a day. For me it was well worth the cash.
