Hi everybody! This is my first ever trip to Florida. Which of these would you use to get airfare and or car rental.

Travelocity, expedia, priceline, southwest airlines, other.

Any and all of your help means the world to me. Thanks!!!

Mr. Mike

I just go directly to the airline and car rental sites. On plane tickets it saves $5 per ticket.

I'd definately use the website for the actual airline and car rental companies, that way if there is a problm with the ticket or rental price, you know who to talk to, without having to get the run around from resellers.

I go directly to the actual airline or car rental companies. This avoids having to deal with a third party (especially if any complications arise). Plus going directly to the company can sometimes save you money....even if it's just $5. We get our airfare from Southwest usually (through Ding) and it's cheaper than what we've seen on Expedia and the like...considerably cheaper.

I normally use Expedia for my airfare but not always. Once I find a dare on Expedia that I want, I always check the airline's website. Sometimes, expedia has a better deal and sometimes the airline does. Also, some airlines aren't on Expedia (Southwest, Jet Blue, etc.).

For car rentals, I have tried Expedia but I seem to get a better deal from the car companies website.

Just remember to print the itinerary so that you have a record.

I like Expedia and Priceline for flights, and Budget for rent a cars, but we usually just call Budget a few days before the trip to get a car.

Orbitz has that nice matrix but I usually find the best prices there and then go to the airline. Remember, though, some airlines are not listed on those sites (Southwest, JetBlue).
You didn't say if you were only doing WDW or going other places as well - if you are planning on a Disney-only vacation, you might want to save the cash you'd spend on a car and use the magical express. Some people like to have their own car at WDW but I enjoy using WDW transportation and not having to deal with driving.
You will have a great trip.
OT - if you are hitting the beaches as well - try Siesta Key (2 1/2 hours) you'll never believe the sand!

The last few years, I have been flying only Southwest, and they are not on any of the booking sites, so I book directly with the Southwest web site.

In the past, I used to book air with USAir and Metrojet through Travelocity and had good experiences, but haven't done it in years.

For car rental, I always book with the rental company's own web site, using codes and coupons from various places. I have gotten the best deals the last few years from Alamo and Thrifty, by using coupons and codes from Sams Club membership warehouse (Costco and BJs have similar discounts). Other great discount codes can be found on www.MouseSavers.com

Tips for car rental: Rental companies don't charge deposits, so you can book, cancel, and rebook as many times as you want if a better rate comes along. The best way to get the lowest possible rate is to keep checking back with all of the major companies at least once a week. Remember to look at the total after taxes and fees, not just the weekly rate, since this can often be misleading. And never cancel one until AFTER you book the lower one, just in case something glitches.

We always book directly with the airlines, as someone earlier posted - it's easy to resolve conflict if there should be a problem. For car rentals - we always use Avis. We've had problems with other rental companies at Orlando Airport (MCO) - but never a problem with Avis.

We go directly to the companies. It is usually cheaper than through a "discount" site. If you sign up for their programs and travel frequently enough, you can get deeper discounts.

I always check somewhere like travelosity, find their best deal, then go directly to that airlines site and get at least the same deal, if not better. I've also found that with car rentals, and hotels, if you check all those "cheap" discount websites, see the best deal, then call that co. (Avis, Choice hotels, whatever), direct and tell them what deal you found online, and ask if they can beat it. They always seem to get you a better deal!

Same here :thumbsup2

We have used Travelocity in the past (to FLA for non-disney trips) ... and usually ended up with United.

Booked other trips thru Disney and ended up with United also. Have not rented a car -- using ME and only Disney transportation so can't offer much info for you there.

I am not much of a traveller. We made one trip via car to Disney and it never left the Poly lot until we went home. :teeth:

I personally like expedia. I have used them for several trips and have had no issues whatsoever!

My honey travels for work and has to arrange her own travel. We signed her up for every carrier's deal emails and reward programs. Before she makes any arrangements, we check kayak.com We also signed up with TravelZoo & the FrequentFlyerCryer. Usually, there is a deal to be found. You just have to dig a little. AirTran, Thrifty rental, and Hilton have all served her well. Maggie

Hi
We got a good deal on Air Tran and when we rented a car, we used L&M. I got the tip from the Unofficial Guide and they were great. Clean cars, cheaper than the rest and no line to get the car. I'd use them again if I needed to rent a car. Good Luck, and have a great time!!!

We do the same thing - works like a charm!
