Which place in Japan???

If you just wanted the temura shrimp or chicken and veggies, not the rice or soup, which place would be best for a family of 5 to get a "snack"??

Next time we go I would really like to try to eat something in Japan. We always seem to skip this one. But looking at the menus, it looks like the lounge would be a great place to get snack/lunch. Would this be ok for a family or is it mainly for people getting drinks?? I do see on their menu that they have drinks for children, so maybe it is kid friendly??

Who has eaten in Japan?? Give me your opinions. Thank you all.

Just a word of advice to avoid the counter service there. It is truly the only bad resturant experece we have ever had at WDW. It however was really bad. The place was dirty, crowded and the food was terrible. We really could not eat it and went to the American place for burgers. I have head a lot of other negatives so it must have not been a one time thing.

Wow, our experience was just the opposite. We have done both counter and Teppanyaki's grills. Loved both.

I'm amazed. We ate there yesterday afternoon and thought it was great. Practically empty at the time, quick service and clean. Food was good (for a counter service kind of place) and I wouldn't hesitate to go back there.

We did the counter service this past July and it was great! ::MickeyMo

We stopped at the counter service last year and loved it! Clean, comfy seating, good food!

YUM!

We've eaten at Yakitori House (counter-service) Tempura Kiku & Teppenyaki several times - never, ever had anything but a great experience - Tempura Kiku is one of our favorite places in the World to eat.
I have never eaten at the lounge, so I can't testify to it's kid-friendliness, but don't steer clear of the Japan Pavillion restaurants - they are marvelous.

I've heard similar things about China, but never Japan. Hopefully it was just one bad day or something like that.

but I have a question.

I know Yakitori House is counter service, Matsumoma is the lounge, Teppenyaki is the sit down with the guys cooking it in front of you................so what is Tempuro Kiku?? Sit down, counter service??

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Tempura Kiku is what you are looking for. When we went we sat at a bar like at a diner. The kitchen is in the center but it isn't the show that Teppanyaki is. The food is really good, the waitstaff is friendly, and the place is very clean. We loved it! If you are looking for tempura (which is what you mentioned), this is where you want to go.
