Hello-I am taking my DD to Disneyland in June (end). She has to wear a knee brace and does good for the day, with some breaks- but by the end of the day, her knee is done and swullen and she is usually in pain. Sitting on the curbs fr prades at end of day doesn’t work so well for her knee. I would like to have her be able to sit for either the Pixar paint the night show, or world of color or Fantasmic. Which in your opinion would be the best “seated” show? (She is 14). Meaning- which show do you need to be there the earliest for or has most cramped conditions- where her seated would be the most beneficial. Would prefer not to rent a chair for the day as she is ok with her knee brace most of the day. Late nights just put it over the edge. Thanks in advance.

I'd get a wheel chair for her. If she's still good with walking you can use it just to get from point A to point B then stand in line for whatever ride. Then she has a seat for the shows. Many years ago I went with my family and my dad needed knee surgery. We pushed him around in the wheel chair then parked it in the stroller parking then did the rides. It does slow you down but it helped out the pain level for him. And I say wheel chair cause they are less expensive then the ECV's.

Maybe I will rent one just on our “long days”. - that’s a good idea. I’m assuming they rent them daily at Disneyland like they do at Disney World? Thanks again

I didn’t know that about the sitting on the ground even with a meal- I thought when it was seated - it was a seat. Seems like wheel chair is the best option for night shows.

For Fantasmic!, the only option with an actual chair is the RBT Premium seating package, all other dining packages are ground seating. The RBT Premium Package allows guests to remain at their table and view F!, but reviews have indicated that it's not the best view.

For PtN, you'd need to either do the very expensive Carthay Circle dining package (it's about $200 per person) or the Sonoma Terrace dessert reception. The regular dining packages are ground seated. I haven't seen many reviews for the reception, but when I walked by it did look like guests were seated at tables and were able to watch the parade from there.

For WoC, you would need to do the dessert party; the dining packages are all standing. There have been mixed reviews for the dessert party; some have said the view was great, others have said it was okay. It seemed like it depending on where you were seated at the party (i.e., which table you were placed at).

In terms of the view, I would probably either go with the Sonoma Terrace Dessert Reception or the WoC Dessert Party.

I would also consider taking a plastic ziplock and having her ice it at any other breaks during the day. It may help reduce swelling along the way. I also use doterra deep blue or something similar to help with inflammation w/o overusing ibuprofen. I'm a runner and have similar issues with feet, knees, ankles after long runs :)

I was having knee issues during a WDW trip last month, and got this ice pack on a DIS board recommendation - it was easier for me to deal with than a Ziplock (didn't leak!). Sorry I don't have advice on the party front - hope you guys have a great time no matter what!

Currently, the CCR PTN Dining Package is $99 per adult and $45 per child.

For the OP: it should be possible to see F! from the HC viewing area if your daughter is in a wheelchair. Or, as mentioned above, you could view from a table on the RBT patio with the RBT Premium Dining Package (dinner while seated at a table on the RBT patio for the first show -- reserve by phone only).
For the Pixar Play Parade and PTN, you could view from benches along the parade route without a dining package. For the PPP, there is good bench seating by the Alice in Wonderland restrooms, across from Matterhorn. Or you could invest the time to get a bench by the Hub or by the train station. Investigate the parade routes in DL and DCA earlier in the day to see where you'd like to sit, then make sure to hold those spots before the parade. I'm pretty sure there are HC viewing areas for those in wheelchairs -- ask the CMs where these areas are located. For PTN, you should be able to grab bench spots somewhere on the route with about 2 hours or so wait time (possibly less time depending on the day and which showtime). I'm not sure how much time you would have to invest in DL with PPP -- try asking CMs who work the parade route.
For WOC, there is HC bench seating (ask the WOC CMs about this) with a good, big picture view. Your daughter will be allowed to sit, and you will be allowed to join her if the area isn't crowded that night. But if other guests need to use the HC benches, then you will be asked to stand. For a guaranteed seat, the WOC Dessert Party is a very nice treat. There are high and low tables, so if you decide to do this, note on your reservation which height table would be easier on your daughter. High tables have tall director's chairs and low tables use regular chairs.

If WOC is back up and running and you don't mind spending the money we loved the Dessert Package, Being able to sit and watch the show was amazing!! I did get a bit chilled though so make sure to bring a light sweater or something for your arms. Have a great trip!!

Thank you for the details. I think two hours is a lot of time to invest in the parade- so I will check out he handicapped section for the days she will watch the parade and maybe splurge on the dessert package for PTn.

Thanks- I’ll be looking at that pack.. it will definitely help: I just need to make sure I can get it on the plane. I guess if it is empty it won’t be an issue. We can fill it up in the afternoon- and be good to go for the parades.

If you can sit and rest on a blanket that is a good way to see PTN. The parade route is long and it isn't too hard to find a front row spot an hour before the show. We brought a blanket and sat for an hour. It was nice to rest and we had a snack while waitinh. We didn't sit on a curb, just on the ground on a blanket near the Zephyr.

Since the PTN route is long, I'd think it'd be easier to get a spot for that (without paying extra for dining/dessert packages) than your other options.

The Sonoma Terrace reception for PTN gets very mixed reviews here. A package really isn't necessary for good PTN viewing, even with a wheelchair. The WOC Dessert Party is worth the splurge, but the free FP HC viewing area has a good view, too.
