Which Parking Structure? Any true advantage to preferred parking or prepaid parking?

The plan is to make it to DL at rope drop (8 am opening). I understand that there is a mickey and friends and pixar parking structure. Is there one I want to choose over the other? I didnt add the prepaid parking to our ticket but I guess I can add still if there is an advantage. Also -- noticed that there is $30 regular parking or 45 preferred -- is it worth it for preferred?

Thanks

I prefer the Pixar Pals side because it is smaller. To access it, enter on Magic Way (follow the signs for the hotels and Downtown Disney parking).

If you end up in the Pixar Pals side, there is no need to pay for preferred parking. All it does is get you a spot closer up front, near the elevators. If you end up in M&F, be aware that you could potentially be parked VERY far from the elevators. If you end up in row 1, in the furthest back corner of the structure, you're talking 1/4 walk mile to the elevators. Although now with the tram running, it's not a huge issue.

There is no benefit to prepaying for parking. There's no Express lane or anything. You will still have to wait in a line of cars and receive a parking ticket receipt.

Thanks everyone -- exactly what I needed to know. I am so excited for this trip -- DL has been on my bucket list for years and while I know it is a lot to do two parks in one day - I am grateful for the opportunity to visit and at least experience some of the attractions.
