Good evening all,

Would you do 2 days at AK, or 2 days at HS?

We are a family of 5 DH, myself, DS15, DD12, DD6. This will be our first time at Disney and I am really confused.
We are going in June 2019 staying at B Resort.

My husband and oldest son loves thrill rides, daughter it depends on her mood for the day. Myself and youngest its a just depends on the ride itself. I have done tons of research and I just can't figure it out.

We have 2MK, 1EP, 1AK, 1HS so far.

Which park would you choose and why?

I'm the odd ball...I would do two at MK and two at EPCOT. But if thrill rides are your thing, I think HS is your best bet. I don't visit that park myself as RnR is the only ride I really care for. :rolleyes1 Some people may not need two days at EPCOT, but I REALLY love the World Showcases. More than I do the rides in Future World.

If it were me, I would leave it open. Try all the parks and see where the fam wants to go again.
AK AND HS are the last days on the schedule, because we are trying to get FP for the most popular rides.

I need to see which one for the second day of our trip.

I have been doing research on Epcot and I dont know what I am missing but I dont know how we can get two days from it. I am going to look again.

If you plan on going to AK early in the trip and aren't able to get a FP for FOP on that I'd recommend scheduling another AK day as you will have better odds of a FP later in the trip.

And other thing, we really want to go to SciFI and Mama Melrose Fantasmic Pk. but I dont want to do this in the same day.

No no! Like I said, I'm the oddball! You may very well not get two days out of it. I would visit the World Showcases twice. I normally go through them faster than I like because we've only got one day for EPCOT. We only visit the parks over 5 days and MK is my second day park in that case. I take a down day for Disney Springs. If I had that second day at EPCOT, I would really take my time walking through the showcases and exploring the different cultures. My son likes that kind of stuff too, he's 11. If you don't see spending 2 days there, then please....go with your gut! :thumbsup2

I personally would do another day at Epcot.
But- if you are looking for thrill rides- HS for RNR and ToT.
Or here is another idea- uber over to Universal for the day and then you have plenty of thrill rides.

Thrill rides are not a must. Husband and son would absolutely do the rides, if they are there.

Honestly 2 days at MK and 1 at each of the others would be my ideal recommendation.
Although if I had to choose I wouldn't choose a second day at HS or AK. Instead I'd suggest Epcot. There is a lot to explore particularly if its your first time.
Or you could decide which one after you've gone to them all. I know that's not super helpful for FP+ planning though.

i would get FPs for AK for a second day so you have FPS pre-booked.
Then after you have done all the parks you can decide which park you want to go back to. If its not AK, then cancel those FPs and book ones fo rthe park you want to go to.

I think there is more to do at AK. Many people consider HS a half day park. Perhaps not so much now with Toy Story Land, and definitely not once SWGE opens, but it won't be open when you're there. Nonetheless, it would be difficult to do 2 days there IMO. I would also consider Epcot for 2 days if this is your first visit.

We are doing 2 days at AK this year. We will be making both of these partial days (1 early arrival, 1 late arrival)to give ourselves a break. There is a lot of walking at AK, and we always seem to run out of time and never get to just enjoy the park (walking the trails, exploring around the Tree of Life, watching performers, and letting our kids play in the boneyard). We have also done 2 days at HS in the past and also did those as partial days (this was before TSL). But HS has a lot of indoor shows we like to watch, so it's nice to do those after lunch during the hottest part of the day. Therefore, not as necessary for us to take a midday break. But if you want 2 table services at HS, it might be best for you to do 2 days there. You can easily spend 2 days at Epcot if you really want to spend time in the World Showcase- shopping, eating, drinking, watching the shows, etc. However, we can usually cover the whole showcase in just a few hours doing everything we want to do. And I hate using 2 days of fastpasses at Epcot. If I was undecided, I would probably go ahead and make fastpasses for the extra day at AK (for FOP) just in case you decide to visit twice. You can always change them once you are at Disney if you decide to go somewhere else.

I am sure you know this, but I just want to add....

If it is your first time...there is something you can not plan for, and that is the “ohh and ahhhs”...

If you go to a six flags park, or a county fair etc, and that is what you are used to, you are not going for the detailed theming...lol...but if that is what you are familiar with, you might be under-estimating your reaction to Disney ‘s extreme attention to detail.

Besides rides, there is just a lot to experience. Watching the animals in AK, catching a show in the world showcase, playing on Tom sawyers island, watching a show in HS, walking down Main Street, just walking around and soaking it
in...there is so much more to WDW then rides...give yourself some time to enjoy the oooohhhs and aahhhhs!

My second day would be Epcot, not for rides, but to explore the wonderful countries in world showcase. Oh.and shopping! I spend at least 45 min in the Japanese dept store! Epcot is also just so big!

We've been many times. My two kids still at home are now 13 and 16. We really love HS, but we only add a second day for HS after having 2 at MK and 2 at EPCOT. The World Showcase is huge and we love to take our time exploring it. After having two days at MK and EPCOT, we'd definitely choose HS. We'll have park hoppers on our next trip, for the first time since 2000. I think we will be spending our evenings between HS and EPCOT.
