Which park to start at in September?

We plan to spend a Wednesday in September at Universal with a Park Hopper. We'll be there by open and stay probably through 4pm-5pm. (Have to get back for ADRs at Ohana.)

We want to hit up both Harry Potter worlds, of course, plus some of the other attractions including the Simpsons, the Mummy, Transformers, Spiderman, etc. Not sure we'll do any big coasters.

I'd ideally like to start in one park at the HP World, do everything we want at that park, then journey over to the other one and hit up that HP World and other attractions. Is that feasible? If so, which park does it make sense to start in?

I would say USF for 2 main reason. First, if you are going in the end of Sept., USF will open at 8:00 while IOA will open at 9:00. Secondly, if you're only going to hop once, I'd take the Hogwarts Express from London to Hogwarts. The ride is different both directions but the trip to Hogwarts is the more Iconic.

The real answer is to move the Ohana reservation to another day and spend the whole day at USF/IOA so you can hop twice. You talk about not doing any "big coasters" but that's only 3 rides. There is plenty in both parks to fill up a whole day (or 2 or 3). Then eat a late dinner at one of the nice restaurants at City Walk.

To add to what Johde said, you may want to cancel the ADR but Universal in September is pretty dead. You can probably do everything you would like by 4-5. But other than that I agree about starting at 8:00 in USF
