We check in on Sunday and plan to stay a week. So we have no plans for Sunday, but are thinking of AK on Monday (Memorial day) :confused3 If we get there before opening is it doable???? We hope that after the Holiday weekend things will calm down a bit.

Any advice on touring on Memorial day??? We have never been when it is busy.

Mostly off season trips. Last year we were there the week before Mem day and it was wonderful, but I had to wait on my Cousin and so here we are going the week of Memorial day!!! scary!!! :sad2:

I do know my way around good and I have a plan.

Thanks for any advice!

I am bumping this up for a reply as I am arriving on Memorial Day Sunday as well and very intested in an answer.

Well, I've never been on Memorial Day, but I have been on NYE twice...I think the crowds are comparable.

I would advise against the MK. It will be crowded beyond belief. Personally, I'd go with Epcot...this is what we did on NYE, I thought that since it is such a large park area wise, there would at least be places to sit down and relax when you needed to...and there were, just barely. But still, the park was doable, with a plan. Just be aware that it was a major pain to get out of the park after Illuminations...view it as close to the exit as you can!!!

Have a good trip.

We are also from St.Louis Mo! I work here in the city, but live in Dittmer!

Are you guys flying down on Sunday?? Southwest?? The only internet rate flight we could get was on Sunday at 5:00pm. That bums me out since we wanted to get into town earlier?? :confused3 Oh well for $69 I should be grateful.

My DVC member that I rented points from said that sometimes Monday Memorial day is a travel day..They are heading home that day. I can't imagine it being as crowded at NYE!! That is Peak season. I guess we will find out.

I am staying away from MK on Monday. We chose AK so we could arrive early and get as much done as we can and then head back to the Boardwalk for the evening. :thumbsup2

What are your plans for Monday????

Well, we did MK on Memorial Day last year and there were light to moderate crowds. We couldn't believe it. We walked around all day wondering where all the people were. I kind of wondered if folks were traveling home that day. We met my sister, BIL and 3 neices about 10:00 am. They had already riden Space Mountain 3 times, while we did fantasy land (my kids are younger). We were able to ride everything in the park that we wanted to with a short wait. Even if we chose to get a FP, it was usually one with a return time of maybe an hour later. Don't know if it was a fluke, or not but the crowds were very minimal that day. My Sister asked a CM about the low attendance and they seemed puzzled too, as they were expecting a much larger crowd that day. Hope whatever you choose, that you have a great time!

I'd recommend Epcot. The only reason is thatthat's the park we were in on Memorial Day, 2003, and crowds weren't noticeably any different. I didn't even realize it was Memorial Day until that evening.

You guys are making me feel much better.... :thumbsup2
Like I said...My DVC person that I rented from said that sometimes Memorial day itself is a travel day!! So that is in our favor!!!
I am sure that Friday, Sat and Sunday are really really busy.

We have no plans for Sunday since we get in late that day.

When we checked out last year on the Friday of Mem day weekend it was hoping around AKL...I could tell a huge difference in the people checking into the resort.
