We will be driving from PA to FL over Thanksgiving. We will arrive on Wed. 11/21 and plan to do a park. First night we stay at Amerisuites and the next 2 nights at Hard Rock Hotel (11/22 & 23). We have 3 day pass (AAA buy 2/get 3rd free) DH, Me, DD (11) & DS (8 - not tall enough to ride coasters - he is bummed).

Which park on Wed. and which park on Thurs. (turkey day). Split between both parks on Fri.?

My idea - Wed. - IOA - ( will park be less crowded this day?) Thurs. UNI. and Fri - favorites/pool. Would like professional opinions. First time at either park for us. We then go to Disney for 5 days and then a cruise for 3. Can't wait! 20 days and counting!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would like opinion on the Boston Lobsterfeast Rest. and which is best day to eat at Mythos.

since it is thru the week i would say you plan sounds great.
There is never a bad day to eat at MYTHOS

I have never eaten at boston lobster feast but a lot of the people that travel for CNH eat there and love it almost as much a CHARLIE's :smooth:

I'd suggest USF the first day on the (probably flimsy) theory that IOA will "top" it and that you can save your FOTL privileges for IOA.

On second thought, pay no attention to anyone else's opinion and go with your gut. You'll love it no mattter how you do it.

My thoughts are that you should do the studios the first day because you are staying offsite that day. Here's why! With IOA being the kind of park a person can find themselves very wet at, I would MUCH rather be staying at an onsite hotel the day I went there, so I could slip back to my room, if I choose, and get into some dry clothes! To fully experience IOA, you really need to go on the 3 water rides too...
I just think it would be more convenient to have the luxury of a room nearby if I were spending the day at IOA!

Like someone else said, even if the other days are busier than Wed. (which I'm sure they will be!) you will then have front of the line access since you're staying onsite!

Happy planning!

I remember my very first trip to Orlando in 1999. I was staying at the Radisson Universal (it was called the Twin Towers back then, thank GOODNESS it's not anymore! :earseek: )

Well, I was going out into the hallway and there was a woman about to check out. She told me what I've told people everytime since, go to Universal Studios FIRST. Why, I asked, in my Newbie tone??? She said because it's older (IOA had just opened) and calmer and IOA will blow my mind.

Hmmmm, I said, and did just that.

Yes, you can play it by ear but I really think that seeing IOA will make you compare the two too much. I truly appreciate both parks but if you expect the flash and razzle dazzle that IOA has out of Universal, you could be disappointed. Or NOT, everyone is different.

Tell your 8yo to hang in there. Mine went to the parks 11 times before measuring up and boy was it worth the wait!!
