Which park attractions open late?

I can't seem to find information on which attractions in the four WDW parks open some time AFTER the posted opening time for the park.

For example, the last time I visited the Magic Kingdom (in March, 2006), the Jungle Cruise didn't open until 10:00, even tho the park opening that day was at 9:00, and most other attractions were running. This sort of thing makes it very difficult to plan a day at the park. In this example, the Unofficial Guide specifically recommends visiting the Jungle Cruise "before 10:00 am." (Page 443, 2006 edition.) Clearly impossible.

So, my question is; Does anyone know which attractions (especially rides), do not open untill some time after the park opens?

Thanks.

Toontown usually opens at 10am.
Tom Sawyer's Island can open later.

The Jungle Cruise is usually open at 9am.

But, like everything else at Disney, it can change frequently.

Well I am going to put my 2 cents here. It seems the only part that was open first thing in the morning was Fan-Land and everything else never opened until 10AM and this happens during the Value season time. I never go to the park early anymore not worth it unless you have little ones. I use this time for a nice breakfast.

I think it depends on the time of year, whether it's an EMH day, and how quickly critical staff gets in place.

I've heard other suggest going to Toontown first for no waits to see Mickey.

I think you can also ask at the gate.

Sorry, but that's just not possible.

I can believe a few attractions might have been open a couple of minutes late, but the ENTIRE PARK except for Fantasyland not being open until 10am when the gates open at 9am... not gonna buy that one.

I've been going FIRST-THING in the morning, well-before the gates are open, for YEARS and YEARS (EMH, Early Entry, and otherwise) and, unless you stumbled into a "Little Ones EMH" (they have only been happening within the last few weeks and they only last until 9am) you simply must be mistaken.

I sure wasn't mistaken about Jungle Cruise not being open until 10:00 am, as I stated in my orginal post. But perhaps that was a one-time occurance. Since that happened, I have simply stayed away from that attraction until later in the day, and, of course, it's usually crowded by then.

But I still wonder which attractions (ESPECIALLY RIDES), do not open when the parks (NOT JUST THE MAGIC KINGDOM) open to the public.

Thanks for any Info. on this in advance.

Yes, that does happen on occasion.

It CAN happen on virtually any ride, but simply not many and not every day.

At Epcot (at this point, anyway) "Turtle Talk" does not open until 10am.
This might change when they open the entire pavilion "The Seas with Nemo & Friends" (formerly called "The Living Seas"), later this year.
And, of course, all of WS does not open until 11am.

At MGM, the "Back Lot Tour featuring Catastrophe Canyon" can sometimes open a bit later than the park. Certainly the stage shows (and the Animation Tour, One Man's Dream, Naria Exhibit) can operate on a specific schedule.

At DAK, FotLK, Flights of Wonder, Pocahontas and her Friends (and soon, Finding Nemo, the Musical) start later than park-opening, and sometimes Kali River Rapids might open later in the cooler months.

I'm with you, OP!

Jungle Cruise often opens late, and not just in the winter - although it is a pretty safe bet in winter.

August 20 - 26 (last month)...
  • Magic Kingdom - Mickey's Toontown, Country Bears, Tiki Room, Hall of Presidents, Jungle Cruise, Tom Sawyer Island - NONE opened until 10:00. (eta: And throw in The Riverboat and Teacups, which were just plain closed.)
  • Animal Kingdom - Kali River Rapids (except Monday) and all that Rafiki stuff didn't open until 9:30.
It is REALLY annoying to me. When they open the park, the park ought to be open.

If I want to ride Splash, see the Country Bears and then CoP and leave, I have to sit around for 45 minutes waiting on the Bears or make the walk to CoP and then back to CBs, then back out of the park. (Can't go to Pecos Bill's for an early lunch...doesn't open until 10:30.)

If I want to ride EE and then Kali, I have to stand around in the heat for nearly half an hour or go do something else and come back.

It screws everything up. It is my #1 Pet Peeve with Disney park management.
