Which ones to cancel?

We'll be on the DDP in Sept and I've got our ADRs made. I'm hoping DH will be willing to pay OOP for a couple, but if not I'll need to cancel two. We're doing the HDDR so that uses up two credits. Here's what I have:

Dinner at Tony's TS
Lunch at Coral Reef (kids are really looking forward to this)
Dinner at Whispering Canyon (we're staying at WL)
Dinner at O'hana
Breakfast at Cape May Cafe

If you had to replace one with CS, which would you choose?

I would pass on the Coral Reef.

If you have never been it's a very cool setting with food that disappoints.

Glad we've gone, but won't go back

I'd cancel Tony's (probably the worst Italian food on property) and Cape May Breakfast.

I'd cancel Tony's and Coral Reef. Some people like Tony's but we thought the food was awful. The atmostphere at Coral Reef is great if you sit close - but the food isn't. If possible, go for appetizers and dessert (although it's probably not an option). IMO, it's just a waste of money to eat a full meal there.

We do like the food at Coral Reef - first time we ate there was really good - suberb service and we sat at the back of the restaurant. It was so good and favorite of that trip, we booked for our anniversary meal dinner last time - the service wasnt great at all - the server barely spoke to us even though we wore anniversary badges - food was still OK though.

We still would probably drop Cape May from your list - we actually love it there but if you are paying for your DDP, then less bang for your buck with breakfast - can you pay OOP instead? If you have free dining, I would personally drop WK - we didnt care much for the food there but if your kids are younger and you would enjoy a meat based menu, then stick with it especially as you are staying at WL.

Hi amym2,
I think you made some great choices and I like all of them so if I HAD to pick I would say to cancel Tony's or Cape May.

Good luck and have a wonderful trip. :yay:

I would cancel Tony's because I think it's the second-worst Italian food on Disney property. Contrary to some other responses on this thread, I advise keeping Coral Reef, especially if your kids are looking forward to it. We love seafood and have always enjoyed ourselves there.

We have eaten at Coral Reef on every trip, since 2002, and every single meal has been outstanding. The portions are small, and it is expensive (not a problem if you are on the dining plan), however, the food is delicious. Request to be seated next to the aquarium. It is so much fun!

I would probably cancel Tony's Town Square. We have had good food there, although we have not ordered any pasta or parmigiana dishes (which seem to get bad reviews on the Disboard). We usually order appetizers and flatbreads at lunch, and it is good. Could you go the appetizer route and share a flatbread and pay out of pocket?

Or could you switch to sandwiches at The Plaza on Main Street and pay out of pocket there?

Let us know what you decide! Good luck!

Also didn't like coral reef too crowed may not get close to view the fish. Kids could be very disappointed.

I would cancel Tony's. By far the worst meal in my entire 10 day trip. It was absolutely disgusting, i cant stress that enough. I think the major prob starts with their tomato sauce. Its gross. Needless to say, my son and i barely touched our food! I should have listened to the reviews. Ugh!

i love cape may's breakfast... but if you're staying at the WL, it'll be quite the trip over there in the morning. i would cancel it, and save it for when you stay at an epcot resort. kona is a pretty good breakfast to pay out of pocket. i'd also cancel tony's dinner.... the counter service at mk is pretty good.
