OK. I've convinced the Wife, or actually she convinced me ( either way that doesn't matter) The problem is Which one to choose from. I need your help... Do I go for the AKV for 104 a point, or the BLT for 112 a point. Incentives are roughly the same only a 200 dollar differance. So it would be $17920 or 16640 , a 1280 differance. But here's the thing that's bothering me. The current MF's are ridiculously different. AKV @ 4.84 & the BLT @ 3.67 . Provided the number will gradually go up every year at the same rate it would only take me like 4 years or so to be even if I were to buy into the BLT. One question, Is there any way of knowing which points have gone up quicker(in the past), or which will stay around the same, Or will they all roughly go up at the same rate. This may be a Huge factor in choosing which place to call HOME. Please Help. thanx.

There is no way of knowing. But if you look at past fee increases by resort (I suspect someone will post that info in this thread) you can see that each of the WDW has seen roughly the same % increases, especially when averaged over time. The only resorts with anomalous increases have been the beach resorts.

Again, past performance doesn't guarantee future results yada yada, but if the future is anything like the past, it's unlikely BLT will see increases large enough to close the gap with AKV. If I were buying today, I'd assume that BLT will be cheaper in the long run and would only buy at AKV if I really wanted the 11-month window there.

Now that AKV has raised their rates, you might want to look into resale. Ones recently have gone for in the $80s. Don't know if the prices are being raised on the resale market to coorelate with the DVC increase though. Definitely should check it out as it can save you several thousand dollars!

wow Now that was a lot to read. B.T.W. I would expect betta gramma from a skool teacher...LoL:rotfl2:

I see the family resemblance!!! :rotfl:

FWIW, buy into the one you and your family will want to visit most often. You can book that resort at 11 months out, giving you a 4 month advantage over those who don't call (circle one) AKV/BLT home! You can only book 7 months out at the resorts you have no ownership in. With so many members, "Home Resort" advantage can be huge - especially during peak times!! :thumbsup2

...please, please, PLEASE don't post any of your FAB pix! :rolleyes1

We just bought at BLT. My DH's fav is AKL, mine was just to buy:) But in figuring the numbers like you did, BLT will eventually be cheaper. Also, because AKL is much larger, I figured we would have a better chance of booking there at the 7 month window, versus booking at BLT at the 7 month window. I will be happy at any one of the DVC's that we try. For us, it is great that BLT in a one bedroom will definately sleep 5. Not so, many of the others:0

Most of my AKL/AKV pics are of CL :cloud9:

Here's the most recent picture I have of BLT :rotfl:

...it kinda looks like Shea Stadium! [...which, of course, makes PERFECT sense, beings Shea is right near LaGuardia, which is really what the Contemorary is - an airport....:lmao: !! ]

AKV also has a one bedroom that sleeps 5. Did you take into account that it costs MORE points to stay at BLT for the comparable villa size vs. AKV?

...oooooh, GOOD one! :stir: [ :teeth: ]

AKV hands down. AKV has the concierge option that increases the value of your stay. If you ever found yourself in a situation where you needed to rent your points AKV could be more attractive especially at the 11 month window. Just my 2 cents.
