Need some help....

Of the following resteraunts, if you had to choose one not to eat dinner at, which one would it be....

Boma - Have never been but have seen great reviews
Whiserping Canyon Cafe - Think it would be a fun atmosphere
Mama Melrose - Fantasmic package, seemed like a better choice than H & V
Coral Reef - Only 1 TS credit now and the menu looked great
San Angel Inn - We went inside and the interior looked really facinating.

One of these will not make our list for the upcoming trip...

Help me make the call....

We loved Boma and Whispering Canyon Cafe. There are so many interesting foods to try at Boma. At Whispering Canyon the food is pretty good, and it is quite entertaining. We did not enjoy the food at the Coral Reef. The atmoshphere is really nice though. It was also 2 TS credits at the time. We just felt the food was not worth 2 credits. So, If you would be happy just eating next to the giant aquarium I say go for it especially since it is only 1 credit now. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the responses....I had just recently added Coral Reef onto the list when I found out it was only 1 TS credit now...but maybe it will be coming off soon...

Any other opinions?

I haven't eaten at any of the restaurants you listed, but I know a few people who have eaten at Coral Reef, San Angel Inn, and Mama Melrose. Consensus was the food and selection are both better at local, traditional Mexican restaurants than what you'll find at San Angel; also said it was overpriced (although since you'll be on the dining plan, that's a non-issue). Overpriced and terrible food was the vote on Coral Reef. Then again, the people in question are seafood afficianados (fishing was the family business at one point), so the everyday eater might love it. Mama Melrose was likewise lambasted by several Italian-loving people I know due to lack of selection and just overall bad food. I have heard good things about the flatbread pizzas though. I probably wouldn't drop MM considering the Fantasmic Dining package makes things easier in terms of touring... maybe try the Hollywood Brown Derby if that's available? Never have heard a bad thing about HBD.

So, for me it'd be between San Angel Inn and Coral Reef. Food aside and considering only the setting, I'd personally go with San Angel for the atmosphere. Something about eating fish while looking at their "relatives" isn't exactly appealing to me. And San Angel Inn looks like a beautiful place to eat, although a bit dark to see what you're eating.

I agree--unless "entertainment" by the servers is the only thing you are after.

San Angel Inn- we ate there in December and it was only "okay". Coral Reef wasn't fantastic either- but it was lots of fun watching the aquarium!

San Angel Inn, service was not good and the food was even worse.. I definitely would skip this restaurant...plus it is soooooooooooooooo dark in there and not in a romantic way, just way too dark to see what you are eating.. JMO

Whispering Canyon would go on my list. We went there last summer and while it was fun it certainly wasn't a "must do" for us. Food was okay.

Coral Reef - definitely overpriced
San Angel Inn - you can get the same food outside (which we do like) for half the price.

Well I am going to go against the tide of the last few posts...lol...but I love the San Angel Inn. This is coming from a person who doesn't even really like Mexican food that much. Granted, it is a bit overpriced, but what isn't at Disneyworld? I think it's a fun, romantic restaurant. It's a little crowded, but to me that makes it feel cozy. We love browsing around the little marketplace, enjoying the boat ride, and then having dinner while overlooking the water and the volcano. Overall, this may be one of my fav restaurants in DW.

We have eaten at WCC, and it was ok. I had wanted to try a place that would be fun also but nothing to write home about. I do love visiting the WL though.

Never dined at Coral Reef, but tempted to one of these days.

Boma was good. Not great, but good. It's worth trying once. I don't think it's something I will go out of my way to try again, but I am glad we tried it.

We have had lunch at Mama's twice. It's a nice little cozy restaurant that offers good food. While there we ordered a bunch of different appetizers and pizzas. Overall it's a casual, family type restaurant.

I guess if I had my choice, I would drop WCC from the list.

I've eaten at all of them except Coral Reef, but would be willing to try it. Out of the rest, I would dump San Angel Inn. WC is fun if you are up for that kind of stuff, plus you get to check out the WL. We thought Boma was wonderful, plus you get to check out AKL. And we all agreed that Mama Melrose was delicious. Have done both that and H&V, and liked MM a lot better.

San Angel Inn, go for drink and chips if you want great atmosphere but food was only marginally acceptable in our opinion.

We'd love to try Whispering Canyon for the food, but don't enjoy the antics.

San Angel Inn has a lot of mixed reviews - we always decide to just eat at the Cantina (CS at Mexico) for a portion of the price & we always love the food here.

We love Boma for breakfast & are looking forward to trying it for dinner in September. It gets a lot of positive reviews. :)

We really enjoyed Mama Melrose both times we ate there - once for lunch & another time for dinner. We'll be returning this fall.

We've never eaten at Coral Reef (I don't eat seafood), but I've heard it's a nice place to check out with the aquarium & all. :thumbsup2
