I'm sure there are a lot of varying views on this- but I wanted to get some opinions. We are wanting to stay at a DVC property for just one night before our cruise. I was originally thinking BWV, but now I'm not sure if that is the one we want. We will not be going into the parks, but just hanging out at the resort. What are the pros and cons of the different resorts? Any suggestions?

Personally, I stay at AKV before my cruises or VLW. This year it is VLW. It's beautiful at Christmas.

There's a good chance your only choices will be SSR and OKW. Both are fine for a one-day no-park stay. SSR gets a slight nod due to better DTD access.

Details on rentals can only be posted on the Rent/Trade Board. General questions are fine on these other DVC boards.

If you're using DCL transportation to get to the port, that should play into your thinking. You'll want to stay at a hotel where you can get a direct pickup by DCL buses. I don't have that list or the times of pickup but I'm sure someone has and can post it for you.

We are driving our own car, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Then I'd suggest OKW first and SSR second due to proximity to the car and DDD. One thing to consider since you're spending only one night and driving you car, would you be better off staying at a hotel near the port where you can get free parking?

There really is no benefit staying at WDW for one night before the cruise. I agree with Dean. I would try to get a hotel near the port. I stayed at the Residence Inn last year and it was great.

OK...i'm staying at WLV before my cruise....I noticed they don't have a "cruise desk"....Does this mean I won't get a direct pickup?
Where will I have to go?
Should I just do private transportation?
Thanks
Kerri

Christmas Eve is Thursday night and the cruise starts on Sat. We are driving to the port on Christmas Day and going to stay the night before the cruise there ( haven't decided between Country Inn and Suites and Residence Inn). I am looking for a special place to stay for Christmas Eve/morning.
