The following is our intinerary of TS meals:

6-2 Chef Mickey's

6-3 La Hacienda

6-4 Cape May Cafe Clam Bake

6-5 Donald's Safari Breakfast-Tusker House

6-6 Via Napoli

6-7 O'hana

6-8 Whispering Canyon Cafe

6-9 Cape May Cafe Character Breakfast

Fantasmic Lunch @ Mama Melrose

6-10 Teppan Edo

We have one extra TS meal and will pay out of pocket for it. My party consists of 3 adults and 2 children on the DDP. Which one of the above restaurants would be most cost effective(cheapest) to pay out of pocket for?

Thanks in advance for your help!:thumbsup2

Any chance there will be some meal sharing on the La Hacienda and Via Napoli meals? If you were to do some sharing/app ordering there you could get away with very little OOP. Otherwise you are very buffet heavy, so you will really need to think about what you will order/where.

Unless you are splitting entrees, breakfast buffets are cheaper than other buffets. Check menus and pricing online.

I would pick a nonbuffet to pay out of pocket because you can share food and order less.

If you don't think anyone would share and you think everyone will order dessert too, I'd go with the last poster, breakfast buffet.

Holiday/Peak season surcharges begin on June 3, so you'll have to pay more for any OOP buffets. (They charge around $4 more per person, if I remember correctly.) Otherwise, I would compare costs based on what you and your family plan to eat.

I would split a pizza at Via Napoli! Even the 1/2 meter pizzas are like $36. Split that between all of you plus drinks and the OOP wouldn't be too bad! That's we are planning on doing on our next trip!

1 If you can share at Via Napoli or Hacienda you could use some adult credits and then just add in apps- also pay for kids meals at these non buffets.

2 make sure that you use kids ts credits at buffets- these are much more then standard kids meals.

3 Adult character breakfasts will probably be the cheapest meal so I would probably pay oop for adults at Tuskerhouse and use kids credits. Then pay opp for kids at a non buffet meal or just share with them- you should have plenty of food to share.

Our kids shared with us a lot even when doing dxdp to do more shows.

I would pay the Tuskar house breakfast, I think it is only like $23.00 per person give or take/child price is a bit less. We are two adults doing this breakfast in the fall and we are paying this one oop as well. Chef Mickey's especially dinner is pricey. We ate their oop last sept. it was like $72.00 for only 2 adults. Not sure if your doing breakfast or dinner though, you didn't say.

Another vote for Tusker house breakfast. That is def one, if not the, cheapest buffet.

Definitely check prices online to see what would work best for your family; however, I think that Via Napoli could be a better one to pay OOP for since you could easily share food and the prices would be a lot cheaper.

Tusker House is going to be more than $23.00, because the OP is going to be there during a "peak" dining season. During peak times, it's $26.99 plus tax and tips.

Tiger926 made a nice list of peak/non-peak buffet prices:

Peak/Non-Peak Buffet Prices

For example, the adult breakfast price for Tusker House is $28.75 and the child price is $15.97. ($118.19 for 3 adults and 2 children) That's definitely more than you would pay for entrees at some non-buffet restaurants.

I would probably plan on one towards the end of the trip in case something changes and you dont end up making all your ADR's. I would be really annoyed to pay for meals on the second day, then have a sick kid(just an example) and cant go to breakfast the next day and end up wasting the credits

I checked the prices online. What I came up with is that Donalds Safari Breakfast should be the cheapest. Had not considered sharing meals yet. I'm sure sis and I will look into that.

Thanks again everyone!!!!!
