I can tell you right now, San Angel is greasy, and cheap mexican food. I can get better mexican food at the place down the street. It's not really worth the price. The atmosphere is what you're paying for. What other ADR's do you have? I can give you suggestions..Because I can't really comment on Coral Reef, it's been a while since i've gone and that experience wasn't great.

I've dined at all but 5 TS at WDW and San Angel is one of the bottom 3 on that very long list.

Well, we have lunch ressies at Le Cellier
Dinner at Raglan Road
1900 Park Fare Dinner for Characters
Ohana Lilo & Stitch Breakfast
The Land's Chip & Dale Harvest Feast
AND A Grand Gathering Breakfast in MK

We have Free Dining and wanted to try places we have never been before, but not Signature Restaurants (2 credits)

Would Coral Reef be better ??
It would be for dinner

Never been to san angel. Menu never really appealed to me. Coral reef is pretty good imo although the portions are a bit smaller and the tables are pretty close together. This year we are going to try rose and crown. I saw some pics of the surf and turf in a thread on here and it looked amazing

I enjoyed both restaurants. Food & service was great. Coral Reef wins out tho because of the fantastic aquarium. It's amazing. We went at lunch & had our choice of seats.

WEell it all depends what you want. If your going with kids they might like the coral reef better just on atmosphere. I never ate at the san angel so i can't really comment on it but i did eat the coral reef. Wife and I thought it was really good. It was one of our favorites on or last trip.

We've been to Coral Reef a few times, and every experience was worse than the last. We waited for about 45min to get in even though we did have an ADR.We waited forever for everything (drinks, food, etc...). The food was great every time, but the lack of great service really put a downer on the restuarant for us.
DH really didn't like San Angel Inn, but I loved it. He didn't really like the food. I can't quite remember what he had there.
On the brighter side....
We both L-O-V-E-D La Hacienda (the newly updated/renovated Mexican restaurant). I would definitely recommend that!!!!

Been to both places, coral reef twice, San Angel once. The first time at Coral Reef, I loved it. 2nd time was only ok. San Angel was delicious when we went. That was May 2010. I heard that they changed some things before that because of bad reviews. So i don't know if the bad reviews here are form people that have eaten there in the last year or 2. We're going to both again next month and I am more excited to go to San Angel than Coral Reef. I'd give San Angel 8 out of 10, Coral Reef 7 out of 10, taking both trips into account.

I'll read a few more reviews on both

The decor in Mexico just looked kind of cool

I kept hearing bad reviews of San Angel Inn, but we love the building and were determined to eat there... even if we filled up on chips and salsa. To our surprise, we loved it and can't wait to eat there again in a few weeks!!

We haven't tried Coral Reef yet... we've had it reserved a few times, but never quite made it there for one reason or another. We're trying again this time :)

Have you considered Chefs de France??? Another fave of ours!

at San Angel Inn and unless they offer us a money back guarentee we will not go back. The new hacienda outside is a step above taco bell. I'm puzzled by why they can't seem to get things right. One of the biggest problems is that the food arrives cold. I sent mine back twice and finally a manager came out and asked what the problem was. His tone was not pleasant and I didn't get the impression he liked complaining customers. I told him the food was cold and he told me i had let it sit there too long. Not what I wanted to hear.

Coral Reef used to be great and a must do every trip but our last experience there was sub par. We will try it again before axing it from our list.

If you're set on staying in Epcot, I suggest Teppan Edo, Chefs de France, Rose & Crown or the La Hacienda and those are in ranking order of our favorites. If you're up for possibly going to the BoardWalk for dinner, then Captains Grille is amazing.

Prefer SAI because...we have been there three times and only this last time in Feb 11 was it just eh....could have been an off day.

DH didnt like CR at all but I did enjoy my grouper even if it was a bit heavy on the salt, the drinks killed the taste a bit :lmao:

The last time we were at Disney, Coral Reef was our number 1 best restaurant...the steak was delicious! The atmosphere was awesome, too.

Neither is on my must do list, but I've eaten at both and prefer Coral Reef.

They say San Angel is "romantic"--and if you get lucky and get a table right next to the River, it might be (slightly). But the tables are impossibly close together and the closer you get to the entrance, the more noisy it becomes.
The food is only average and the servers are hurried and have almost no room to maneuver.

Coral Reef's food is nothing to write home about, but it is "better" than San Angel. It too can get noisy, with kids screaming as they identify fish, and or run from their tables to the tank and back.

Everyone seem to rag on Coral Reef on these boards, but my family likes it. Actually, I think it's better than almost all of the hyped World Showcase restaurants. The food at Coral Reef is consistently solid, if not spectacular, and the atmosphere is unbeatable. I really like the lobster soup and grilled mahi-mahi entree.

Is it on the Dining Plan ??
I'll go and look it up

As for the other WS restaurants, we have eaten at those in the past and they were really yummy. Just wanted to try one we have never been too...

Hmmmmm, such decisions and choices !!

I love the planning & research of a WDW vacation !! Yeeee Haaaaa

We do the coral reef every trip! It has good food and an amazing atmosphere!
