For my dates & all for at the same price I can book at any of the Sunterra Resorts:

Sunterra Polynesian Isle (2Bdrm)
Cypress Pointe (2Bdrm)
Cypress Pointe Grandvillas(2 or 3 Bdrm)

I usually stay on-site, so I really don't know the off-site villas well enough to decide. Which is THE best ? Help:confused:

And do any have shuttles to WDW or airport.

We own at Polynesian Isles and really like it there. That being said, with the price all being the same I think I would choose the Grand Villas since they give you more space in a newer unit.

We toured the units 2 years ago when we were there and thought it was very nice. I think it's closer to WDW than Polynesian Isles, too.

I almost feel disloyal to my home resort for saying that I'd choose the Grand Villas! :teeth:

Thank you Barb,

Is there transportation or will I need a rental car?

The Poly Isle looks more lush and luxurious. Is it?

Do you think my non-Disney DH would prefer to hang around at Poly Isle than CPGV?

There are shuttles available for a fee, but I don't remember what they are. We always have a rental car, it's just easier to get around to the non-Disney stuff.

The grounds are lush, the main pool has a nice cabana feel about it. Lots of palm trees and hibiscus plants.

If my dh was going to want to hang out, I think he'd be happy at Polynesian Isles. They have a nice workout center, tennis courts, hot tubs and pools. The staff is really friendly, too.

Hope that helps!

I've stayed at all 3. How many people(any children) are going and will you be at the parks all day? I don't know about transportation because I had my own. If you have any other questions I'll be happy to help.

jessiesue,

Hope the OP doesn't mind my jumping in here...but I'd love to know about your experiences at all 3 of those resorts as we're also considering all of them as possibilities for an upcoming trip as well. I know the Cypress Pointe resort(s) are close to DTD, but how far out is Polynesian Isle and how long did it take for you to get to WDW? Did you have to take 192 or was there a better route? We have 2 kids, but don't need lots of extra activities at the resorts as we'll be at the parks most of the time, but a nice pool would be great for some down time. Also, how are the units at Polynesian Isles? Clean, well-kept, spacious? We see lots of posts on this board re Cypress Pointe and the CPGV, but not too many on PI so it would be nice to hear more about this resort.

Thank you so much...any info would be greatly appreciated! :D

This is a trip in the works right now.....I'm going in Oct. and staying at the Sheraton Vistana Resort. For Oct it's 5 (only 1C).
The PI & CPGV trip is for Dec or late March.

My family is just 3 of us Dh, Dd (9) & me. But I'll most likely bring a friend with 2C (11 & 13)- Total 3A & 3C

DH will not won't to go to the parks (if he comes on this trip at all) more than 2 days (in 7). I, on the other hand, will be there most of the time.

Small numbers of rooms & quiet appeal to him. I like "TOP" end luxury with great service & facilities.....even if I'm at the parks all day. Kids of course like a great pool.

Now that I've given you my long story :o ;) , I'd like to hear any comments you have on all three. Thanks in advance.

LocalGirl- I don't mind at all;) , that's what the DIS is all about!

I always thought the Polynesian Isles looked so pretty, but I know they don't have the whirlpool tubs. That is one feature that I just love about CPGV and other timeshare units in Orlando -- that whirlpool is SO welcoming after a long day in the parks!

PI is not far from WDW. I am not good at names of streets etc. I just know how to get there. Sorry can't be sure on how to tell you how to get to WDW. There are newer units(around 15 years old) and older units(don't know age). Eventhough, the newer units are 15 years old they were nice and clean. The CS told us the only difference in them are there isn't a jacuzzi in the MB in the older ones and the W/D is outside in a closet between 2 units in the newer ones. We went in Dec so we didn't go swimming but the pool looked okay(nothing fancy). The atmosphere is very relaxed, quiet and tropical. They have a few hot tubs throughout the complex. This is something I haven't seen before.
CP & CPGV - They are located close to Downtown Disney. CP is and older version of CPGV. I would take CPGV over CP any day. CP showed its age. Floorplan is not that good either. I would take CP over a hotel room but it is not my favorite. I read they are remodeling so it might be better. CPGV is really nice. They have 2 pools, baby pool, 2 hot tubs, playground minature golf and a little store. You can also use CP pool (has slides) game room, tennis courts, etc.
At CPGV there was a lot of noise of people by the pool after they got back from the parks. Didn't hear that at PI but it was DEc when we went.
I hoped this help. If you have more questions, feel free to ask.

PI is further away than the others. From the parks, you head east on Osceola Parkway (to avoid 192). I think you go past right where it turns into a toll road and take a right on Polynesian Isle Blvd. It's past Seralago Blvd. If you want to avoid any tolls, you can take a right in front of Gaylord Palms to 192, then take a left on 192 up to Polynesian.
