I'm in the begining of planning another trip. I 've heard that both of these parties are great. If you had your choice which one would you go to??
I will be traveling with my son who will be almost 4 and my parents. I just can't decide which party to attend. I would like to on-site for this trip so if it comes down to money are the rooms cheaper in Oct. than in Dec.????

Thanks in advance!!!

Rooms would be less in early December. I been to both and loved them both. Your son would probably like MNSSHP better, but your parents would probably like MVMCP. The Christmas season is wonderful!

Since you are not limited by the school vacation either should be the same for cost but early December might be a little cheaper. I'm voting for MVMCP not so much because it was particularily WOW, awesome(actually the special edition Wishes fireworks were) but because of all the rest of the holiday festivities at the World. Candlelight Processional at Epcot, the Osborne Lights at MGM, the special parades, the decorations everywhere from Goofy in the Santa outfit at Chef Mickey's breakfast to the special gingerbread houses in the Cinema Hall at All Star Movies. Actually, if we weren't arriving the day after MVMCP will probably end this year I would get tickets again.

That being said I hope to get tickets to the Halloween Party this year(if it's on the weekend in Oct that I am there) and am looking forward to the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot(mmmm, gives new meaning to eating my way around the world). But the October trip is just a filler to burn points that I have to use by November and not a replacement for 7 nights in December. If I could only make one trip this year rather than the three we are taking, I would go in December again. BTW, if you decide to go in Dec look into the Candelight Processional dinner packages. The lowest cost one gives you a choice of Akerhus, Biergarten, or Garden Grill. The food was good at Garden Grill AND it is a character meal which ought to appeal to your munchkin. We got great seats and didn't have to wait an extended time in line to get into the theatre.

Well, early December is my favorite time to visit WDW, and I have been to the Christmas party 3 times and enjoyed it a lot. I didn't go to it this past December because I had just been to the Halloween party less than 2 months before. It would've been very COLD had I gone to MVMCP on December 12th!!!!

I went to the Food and Wine Festival and the Halloween party for the first time in October and loved both. The weather will definitely be warmer in October (maybe even hot), and it could be COLD in December!

Just to put in my 2 cents - I prefer MNSSHP too. The atmosphere is more fun (IMHO), and it's fun to dress in costume (yes, my whole family dresses up). That being said, for the age of your child, because you do not have to worry about taking him out of school, I would also vote on going in December. It WAS our favorite time to go to WDW until the kids got a little older. Now we go in October during Fall break and enjoy that time as well. Either time is a blast - so enjoy!

Tough one, I too like MNSSHP better party-wise. I also love the Christmas season, so we're actually doing MVMCP this year. This is a yearly debate for our trips, we love both so much. :Pinkbounc

My DW and I had a great time at MNSSHP this past October. Your son will have a great time. Dress him up and he can Trick or Treat all night. They give out brand name candy at stations throughout the park (you can visit them over and over) and the lines for rides are nice and short.

Well, thanks so much for the input. I can see that this is going to be a VERY tough decision. Both of the parties must be wonderful. Maybe I can plan another trip for 2006 to try the party that I don't pick this year!! I've only been to Disney once as an adult (Sept. 2004) and I loved it so, I guess I can't go wrong. Can someone tell me what the candlelight processional is??

Thanks so much.

Are there many teens at the Halloween Party? Do they tend to dress up also?

Our schools close for Columbus Day and Yom Kippur, which both are in the same week this year. I'm thinking of taking a short, cheap, just for MNSSHP. (Oct. 9-13) My son turns 14 on October 5. If he wears a costume, do you think he'll feel out of place?

No, your 14 year old would not feel out of place. Fans of all ages are in costume and, when we were there, there were elaborate costumes! MNSSHP is wonderful! Don't miss it! We did it twice in one week!

Both parties are Magical and great for all ages. We have been to both and they, IMO, are both just as great as the other. It depends what you are in the mood for as far as decorating. Both offer great rides, entertainment and photos. We like to go in October simply because the Food and Wine Festival is also going on at Epcot. The adults in the trip - if they enjoy alcohol - will really like this! WHich ever you decide, have a magical time and be sure to let us know how it went int he Trip Reports Board!

I would choose MNSSHP any day over MVMCP.

I agree, we went to both last year and everyone we were with agreed that MNSSHP was alot better than MVMCP.
