Just to put this poll in context. Based on preliminary data from the IRS:
If in 2001, your adjusted gross income (AGI) on your federal income tax return was above $92,754 you were in the top ten percent (10%) of filers.
If your AGI for the same year was above $292,913 you were in the top one percent (1%) of filers.
Median AGI in 2001, which means that 50% of filers had AGI above and 50% of filers had AGI below, was $28,117.
Keep in mind that tax returns for dependents, which tend to be in the bottom 10%, will depress these numbers somewhat.
