When we went to DLR before we stayed at GCH and had a great breakfast at Storytellers. My wife wants to go back there on our next trip. She loves the mini Mickey pancakes. Should we go back to this buffet, or should we check out the buffets at the other hotels? I would prefer new places to check out more places, but the breakfast at Storytellers was great with the food selection, and although there was a ranger playing games with the kids, it wasn't loud or crazy.

When I read the menus on the unofficial sites like this one, they often just say Mickey waffles - which ones have the mini ones for adults?

From what I understand (from a dear friend that goes to DL a lot) all the hotel breakfast buffets are the same (or at least very similar). As to the other restaurants I really don't know.

I wouldn't say that they are all the same.

Goofy's at the DLH has the most variety, it is a large buffet.

Surf's up at the PPH also offer's a great deal of variety compared to storyteller's. Don't get me wrong I liked storyteller's, however they really don't have the variation that the other two breakfasts offer.

As for activity with the character's Surf's up at PPH we found to be the most interactive with the kids, losts of dancing etc. Goofy's kitchen came in second with for the most part character's moving from table to table. With Chef goofy every now and then leading a small group of kids around. Storyteller's was, the most sedate in my opinion.

And to answer your question about the mini Mickey waffles, I do believe they are offered at all three breakfast buffet for on property hotel.

they arent...they have a lot of similar things like eggs, potatoes, meats, basic breakfast stuff but the type of interaction as far as games and characters and certain food items and such are different and personally I like PP Surfs Up! with Mickey better than GK and I personally dont like Storytellers at all...however, the upside to Storytellers vs GK and PP is that you can order off the regular menu at Storytellers instead of getting the buffet...

Agreed. Goofy's has the largest variety. GCH has more traditional breakfast foods and Surf's up has some tex mex and tropical things to set it apart..

We never tried Mickey's Surf Up so can't tell about it but we're big fans of Storytellers and tried Goofy's Kitchen last time.

This trip, we'll skip Storytellers to do Goofy's Kitchen again for the food selection is simply amazing. The ambience is very different thought for it's more kid-oriented but after all, you're in Disneyland!

Thanks everyone. I'm not a fan of breakfast so I like the menu at Storytellers while my wife gets the buffet. Except she is jealous of the characters I meet when she is getting food. She was asking where Mickey is for meals so we will probably do storytellers again but I'll share this thread with her. This time we are staying at Disneyland Hotel.

We LOVE Goofy's Kitchen! HUGE selection and great food, especially for breakfast!

Oh, and p.s., I;m not a huge Bfast fan usually either, and so GK was PERFECT! They have lots of lunch/brunch type items too. Everyone was really happy! It really is the BEST character interaction here too! They will make sure they get around to everyone too!

Surf'sUp has Mickey AND you can order al a cart while your wife eats at the buffet? Goofy's is the only one that is buffet only.

If you're willing to bypass the buffet, Steakhouse 55 has one one of the best breakfasts I've had at DL, in an amazing setting, for a very good price.

No mini Mickey pancakes, though.

Mini Mickey pancakes are a must :). No exceptions or replacements allowed

Another Mickey's Surfs Up fan. The other two are ok nothing I found myself wanting to go to again the next morning.Surfs Up I really wanted t o get t o again but couldn't.

I used to be a Goofy's Kitchen fan. While I still am, we had the best interaction at Mickey's Surf's up in PP. It is my new favorite.

Does PPH still have the rice like they had when it was Lilo and Stitch? I know it doesn't fit the theme anymore (unless it's Surf's Up in Hawaii), but do they?

I'd planned on GK, but now I'm thinking we should hit Surf's Up instead!

Um, I don't think you can order off an al a cart menu at Surf's Up (or Goofy's or Minnie's). I thought that was only at Storyteller's (we ate at all 4 last year).

I think they still have the rice. They did last year anyhow. It is still a Hawaiian sort of theme.

Yes, they still have the rice (I was there last Friday). It's definitely Hawaiian Surf's Up. We never went to the Lilo and Stitch version but the whole restaurant has a hawaiian/tropical theme and I suspect the only thing that changed when it became Mickey was the name and the character. Stitch still appears at this breakfast (from what I've heard he and Mickey are a lock) and gives surfing lessons.

Characters we had were Mickey, Minnie, Daisy, Pluto and Stitch. There were several surfing lessons and dance parties while we were there. Food was standard breakfast buffet (including the small mickey waffles and pancakes), made to order omelets, a banana french toast dish (that I didn't really care for- too sweet but I LOVED the salted caramel french toast at Flo's so I dunno...), chilaquiles, rice, fruit etc.

We had a great time at the Surf's Up breakfast. The only other character breakfast we've done was Storytellers in the past and although I enjoyed the food and I think Storytellers Cafe is absolutely beautiful, my kids don't really know the characters we saw there (other than Chip and Dale... the others were from Tarzan and Brother Bear when we were there...and maybe Meeko who they would recognize now but they hadn't seen Pocahontas at that time) so I skipped it on our recent trip.
